For those Halo fans who actually care about the story, the next novel exploring the mysterious Forerunners is set to come out in January 2011. Halo: Cryptum dives into the history of the Forerunners, how they filled the galaxy with their tech and how they all disappeared from existence. This is just the first part of a trilogy penned by Greg Bear.
Additionally, there will be another trilogy of books that will follow the aftermath of the events after Halo 3, penned by Karen Traviss. No word on if any of these books will be re-released after future Halo games and completely mess with the mythology.
