Next GTA IV episode 'Ballad of Gay Tony' coming this fall photo

Rockstar has just announced the next next episode of their Grand Theft Auto IV content, “The Ballad of Gay Tony” will be coming exclusively to Xbox 360 this fall.

Players will take on the role of Luis Lopez, a “part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka "Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.” The episode will run you 1600 MS Points, or $19.99 when it does launch.

Also announced is a retail release called Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City which will feature the content from “The Lost and Damned” as well as “The Ballad of Gay Tony” on one disc for $39.99. This will be a standalone disc, and will not require Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

It’s already  been confirmed that Rockstar doesn’t intend to attend E3 proper this week, but we’d be surprised if “Ballad of Gay Tony” didn’t make an appearance at Microsoft’s press conference next Monday. Rockstar is promising more info in the “coming weeks and months.”

Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony for Download on Xbox LIVE® and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City Available on Disc for Xbox 360® this Fall

New York, NY - May 26, 2009 - Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce the fall release of both the second episode of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony - exclusively for download on Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network, and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, which will include both episode one The Lost and Damned, and episode two The Ballad of Gay Tony together on a single disc exclusively for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

"Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we've created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode's focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities."

Grand Theft Auto IV's second downloadable episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony injects Liberty City with an overdose of guns, glitz, and grime. As Luis Lopez, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (aka "Gay Tony"), players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City delivers two games on one disc - the all-new episode The Ballad of Gay Tony and the first episode, The Lost and Damned - together on disc for the first time - for Xbox 360 for $39.99 and will not require a copy of the original Grand Theft Auto IV to play.

The Ballad of Gay Tony will release on Xbox LIVE this fall for $19.99 or 1600 MS points and requires players to have Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE membership to download.

I think an episode based around piracy in the waters of liberty city would be a good idea, although boat handling is poor.

Thereīs no point being controversial in a game if the game is not good. GTA4 is a blast, and the DLC seems to be high quality(I donīt own a xbox)... actually, much better than the RE5 DLC, where the main game sucks (sorry, I love RE series but RE5 is the worse, a HR RE4 without the good things RE4 had)... and hooray for gay gangsters!!!

Too gay. Not enough tits and pussy for Destructoid's readership. This game should be called "BIG TITS AND PORNO: THE GAME".

i dont like the idea of a stand alone disk. so basically its NOT DLC. just make another full game OR give us real DLC like new things to do in LC.

I'd rather them put their energy into making an entirely new GTA instead of more DLC, but whatever...

I still need to play The Lost and Damned

Where is the controversy? Is it seriously because it has 'gay' in the title. Grow up.

I think it's less that it has the word 'gay' in the title (which, admittedly is something new- when was the last time you saw any piece of mass entertainment with the word gay in it?), than that the logo is meant to be stereotypically 'gay', with lots of bright colors (rainbows!) and sparkles, too.

Although frankly, this isn't really that controversial. Now, if you played a gay character, that would be something newsworthy, assuming he was as much of a hardcore thug as the other characters.

Oh Lord. I work in game retail in a very homophobic area of the southern US. I can't wait to have to explain to Mr. and Mrs. Mullet why the new game their kid wants is all about gay people.
Other than that, this looks awesome. It's about time somebody put some gay content front-and-center in a mainstream game!

Haha, great title. It wouldn't be GTA related unless it offended someone. God, I need to buy this game NOW.

@ Wanderingpixel

Rockstar's game usually have pretty good writing, much better than some things you will find in movies. Their games are also genuinely good, and just because they want to show a cock doesn't mean they're attention whores. Plenty of great movies show things that maybe they didn't need to, but people don't complain about that shit, so why bother here? Why can't GTA be artistic? I'm not a movie buff, but I'm willing to bet that there are definitely movies out there that are similar to GTA and are considered "Classics" and artistic in their own right. They are definitely doing things in games that people wouldn't necessarily expect, and just like movies got flak when they first arrived for their content, games are getting flak now, and just as movies are now a respected art form, games will one day be that as well. You may not like like it, but "Pushing the boundaries" is one day going to get games to that coveted "art form" status that it deserves.

Plus Family Guy is just classic, c'mon dude.
