Next Borderlands DLC coming, details and Trophies leaked photo

Those finished with Gearbox's first Borderlands DLC, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, may not have to wait much longer until the next installment.

PlayStation 3 Trophies for the upcoming unnamed DLC have been leaked, courtesy of Trophy tracking Web site, PS3 Trophies

Bronze
Small Tournament - Completed the lesser challenge in all 3 coliseums

Silver
Hell-Burbia - Completed the larger challenge in the Hell-Burbia coliseum
The Angelic Ruins - Completed the larger challenge in The Angelic Ruins coliseum
The Gully - Completed the larger challenge in The Gully coliseum

Gold
Big Tournament - Completed each of the larger challenges in all 3 coliseums

From what we can gather, it looks like the DLC will add more challenges that take place in coliseums. Neat. With zombies the main focus of the first DLC, I have to wonder what Gearbox has in store. Vampires? Werewolves? Clowns? Ninjas?

If Gearbox Creative Director Mikey Neuman's tweets are any indication, it's just dying to tell us. And what of that PC content? Don't kick off the petitions just yet; I hear patience is a virtue or something.

Dammit, I love me some borderlands, but I swear everybody resorts to the "coliseum" DLC when they run out of ideas.
This sounds like just a bunch of fights one after the other (like the latest Mass Effect DLC), which sounds like a cheap cop-out. Which is too bad, because The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned was probably one of the best expansions/DLC I've ever played, right next to Shivering Isles. Brilliant writing, art style, everything.
Here's hoping I'm wrong and this is beyond awesome. Hell, if it raises the level cap I'll probably be in anyway.

So, when are PC users going to get the first DLC?

@ Shadowii

That'd make little sense for Gearbox to make DLC like that since coliseums are already fairly widespread in game.

I was warned off the first DLC for it being too short for spending $10 on it. If they're going to make the next batch Coliseum-based they could at least add some functionality we'll care about.
As Ninja26 put, level cap raise please?

People don't play Borderlands for the funny monsters or weird settings. It's for the loot! Expand the loot options! Or add a class!

Borderlands is most likely my goty, but the arena and pvp do not interest me at all. I've only done that stuff for the achievements and to see what it was. Lame DLC sounds lame.

I really hope this stuff isn't that difficult for my STILL LEVEL 50. I don't want this to ruin my achievement completion.

Did I mention that I'm STILL LEVEL 50, GEARBOX?

Just sayin'

I bet it will raise the levelcap. Why make a whole bunch of coliseums where you kill a TON of enemies and now allow a bit more leveling up? *fucking fingers crossed!!!*

That's why I'm worried; we had some very minor arena fighting in the main game. I could see them making it bigger and badder, but the same in principle. That would just seem kinda cheap to me.
Still, killing tons of dudes in a high-stress situation co-op is always great fun.

Whoops empty comment.

Anyways, level cap or no, I hope they scale the dlc to your level, or at least that it's level 50 baddies. Awesome as it was, going to Jakob's Cove and fighting a bunch of level 42 zombies when you're even as low as level 46 is waaaaay too easy.

So I'm in the stuck-due-to-PC-version crowd and had a question.

If you beat the second playthru, do you get to fight level 50 zombies? And is there any higher level loot? Stuff that, you know, you need a high enough weapon skill to bring it down to a level that you can equip?

I really like Borderlands, but it didn't have enough end game content. The ULTIMATE pisser is that everything is random and the drops suck. It's a higher chance for me to sit in New Haven and check the two weapon vending machines every 20 minutes to find a legendary upgrade than it is to go out and actually earn it.

I love Borderlands and it's been one of my favorites since release, but they SERIOUSLY need to release a patch to fix some of the glaring tech issues that plague all versions of the game. I seriously doubt I'm gonna shell out any more cash on this game until they fix some of the issues (for FREE...I will REFUSE to pay for DLC that fixes blatent flaws that the game originally shipped with).

On the other hand, some arena horde fighting isn't necissarily a bad thing. But I'll be much more reluctant to purchase this than the Zombie DLC (that I really haven't gotten into a whole bunch).

Shadowiii: Don't be ridiculous. They aren't resorting to the "coliseum" DLC because they've run out of ideas, they're resorting to it because it isn't going to take months to develop and a lot of people have actually asked for it. Seems like a win-win situation to me, assuming that they don't get greedy and price it too high.

plft: None of that stuff seems to indicate "arena" or "pvp" in the slightest, it's clearly referring to content based around the "coliseum" missions in the game where you have to fight several waves of monsters in an enclosed area.

I don't know about all you guys and your negativity but I personally love to kill enemies in Borderlands. Bring the arena on! Murder is as satisfying as leveling up or finding new guns in the Borderlands.

Just to make a statement of fact, Destructoid gave this an 8.5-

As should be a given, this is only IMO-

To be sure this game has some entertaining adult moments. The art style is novel. But after a while, (perhaps when you hit the level cap) I think some will agree Boredomlands soon becomes a seriously boring game.

Problem - paper thin illusion of an rpg.

is killzone an RPG? - it has classes - no of course not.

Is L4D an RPG? - it has individual voices for the characters - no of course not.

Choices with consequences to the storypath make an RPG. That requires multiple story paths or a reputation. Many have argued there is only 1 story and it is paper thin. Major characters get a cut scene with their name on it like a bumper sticker ie. (also three balls).

Problem - No basic, standard difficulty control for the game. No way to experiment with differing enemy difficulties for a round or two.

Problem - very little incremental gore animation.
Hits either do nothing or explode characters into goo squirts. almost nothing in between. Seriously lazy on the developers part. No bullet holes on any characters even though you may pump them full of an entire clip. A serious visual disconnect, IMO.

Problem - almost all the maps look like yet another desert with a different pile of junk and rusty structure.

Problem - in order to level up your team after completing bounty objectives, you have to find your way back to the correct bounty board or person/map to collect bounty, dragging your whole team with you- they get confused and bored then leave game.

Problem - you often are assigned multiple mission from multiple locations. If you can remember what map the mission was assigned from, you can't collect the experience points for your team. The missions aren't labeled with the location of their assignment.

I suggest they could have made getting paid and XP points 'automatic'. To preserve the flow of the action. But that would ruin them giving you the errand / time waster of having to travel.

This element of the game is like PS3 home, in level of excitement. To estimate, a third of your time is spent being a bus driver, driving to, and from a bounty. Even the auto commute stations have to be traveled to. Again, most people experience enough of that in their work commute. They don't want it in an RPG or a game.

Problem - Adding to the frustrating boredom, you can't travel back to the bounty board when any team member is in a menu. and your team is constantly in a menu looking at their loot rather than fighting and following you.

Problem - The arena launch controls are bizarre and non intuitive. I couldn't launch an arena match for PvP. Perhaps this is a glitch in the PS3 version.

If you like counting, comparing items and multiplying factors like (2x headshot damage) this game is for you. Or you could get a job in an accounting department.

I would characterize these elements as materially damaging to playability and long term replayability. Making it a non essential purchase.

That said will you get 40 hours of play out of it for your 60 dollars? Yes. I guess so. But that does not make it a recommended game, or half a point shy of a 9 review score.

Oh ok then. I misunderstood and assumed arena instead of coliseum. Not as bad then. Thanks for the clarification.

RPGs are about building characters, increasing their power through exploration, killing hordes of whatever and finding items and equipment. Alignment, moral choice and multiple story paths can be part of it, but they are not essential. Either you have the mindset to endure the grind or you don't.

Storypath choice is common to western RPGs, but is often just superficial as it often leads to the same endgame with a slightly different cast of characters and a slightly different ending. Whether I'm a jerk or a nice guy all along the way is often just flavoring, its not substantive unless it changes the path, difficulty and the endgame I arrive to.

Wow. Just wow. Instead of making a blog or going to the borderlands topic in the forums to express your opinion, you post this long ass post in the comment section. Make a blog, we'll talk about it there. Borderlands is a great game that justifies defending it, but not here. The comments are meant for people to express their opinions of the story. The blogs and forums are for everything else.

Just bought and played through the DLC last night. I'm playing split screen co-op with a friend once a week, and if they release a little DLC every so often for the next couple of months, I will be extatic. Also, seconding "raise level cap please."

Zombie Island was hilarious and slickly presented -- but with no level cap jump and a serious lack of loot (there's no way I should go through 6 hrs. of DLC and leave with the same weapons I went in with), it didn't quite scratch the itch.

If they can keep the charm and add in those loot/skill/level elements, I will happily give Gearbox more of my monies.

I hope they don't raise the level cap, then there will be no diversity between characters.

Gearbox really needs to ramp up the difficulty though, I play this game co-op only with a friend and it's just way too easy. The beginning of the game provided a decent challenge but after doing side quests it was just a breeze.

Zombie Island was great and well worth the 10$ but again the bosses just went down too fast.

What matrix said. It's the rental of the year, no doubt, but the level cap is so horrendously low, it's obvious they wanted you to buy all the DLC.

The game is great fun. The only thing that kills the fun is when you reach 50, and the feeling of "growing" stops, and you really have no reason to play anymore.

I zoomed through Zombie in like 3 hours because I was so overleveled. All Gearbox has to do is raise the level cap to 100 and auto level enemies in the real game to your level ala the expansion pack and could be an infinite game.

Hey, hey Gearbox. Randy Pitchford, yeah you. You can have your people create more DLC for this game AFTER YOU FIX THE BROKEN MULTIPLAYER

I JUST LOST 23 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY BY JOINING A FRIENDS GAME YOU STUPID !@$^$#%@#^!^$#&@%*&^!#$%@!$#!%#!$&^!#$%#@$!@!^$*&^()_*((%&^&*^

Ok, patch the multiplayer so that it doesn't occasionaly completely annihalate people's skill progression randomly just by joining a multiplayer game, THEN work on some DLC. I think that makes a lot more sense.

You guys really didn't get anything from the names of the trophies? and the fact that these are coliseum? I believe the 'coliseum' already in the game, are called arenas. So considering the references here to heaven/hell I suspect it's probable that these bear reference to Roman/Greek mythology. The fact that each coliseum is in a complete different location leads me further to suspect that the coliseum will just be an aspect of each areas. Probably the most challenging, but I doubt that's all the DLC will have to offer.

Just speculating mind you.
