Next Assassin's Creed to be detailed in May photo

With Ubisoft announcing today that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has cleared 6.5 million units shipped, it's become evident that we cannot seem to get enough of the series. And, as long as they continue to be well-made games, there's not a whole lot to complain about.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot gave us an update on that front as well. "We will have an Assassin's Creed this year," as he put it simply. "We are going to give you more details in May."

I suppose this is as good of opportunity as any for you lot to voice your suggestions, concerns, and everything in between. Where do you want this next AC installment to go?

Cool, I just picked up AC1 the other day! It's pretty good so far.

I'm currently a handful of hours into Brotherhood and all I can think of is how similar it feels to AC2. It has done some things I like, like adding fast travel, but it just feels so damn familiar. I find it hard to want to keep playing some times. I just get frustrated because it feels like I've done everything already. Maybe that will go away in the next few hours worth of play time.

That being said, didn't Ubisoft explicitly state last year before the release of Brotherhood that AC would not be annualized, as some fans feared? I thought they were choosing not to do so in order to keep the iterations fresh and allow each the development time needed between installments to deliver top notch products? Hmm... I guess they decided to take a page out of the Activision playbook for this series...

Now I wonder if I should just buy AC: Brotherhood already or wait for a huge price drop/crazy sale so I can buy it and play through...

I just want them to give up on the Desmond crap. More Ezio, less Desmond, please.

Creed of Duty?

Meh. Ezio's story is done. Let's meet a new assassin, like a ninja from japan.

While the series is great and quality fun, I don't like sequels of games being released yearly, still looking forward to the official announcement in May though.

@ B-Radicate To be fair, the whole return of the expansion pac would be an awesome thing to see.

@Popyman

Number 1's a bit shallow and repetitive compared to 2 and brotherhood. but dont let it put you off from a great series because it'll dawn on you soon that number 1 is a bit boring.

@epic

It wont be more ezio, i remember hearing that they would continue his story after 2 but the 'real' assassins 3 would be a completly different time period.

I wouldnt mind seeing some ww2 valkyrie style assassinations.

I loved AC1, but I'm starting to think that this franchise is being hit a little too frequently.

I'm just glad that Ubisoft hasn't done this to Splinter Cell yet.

Tenchu had the right idea. Give me a game with a customizable character, some online co-op and I'll be set. TBH, the multiplayer in Brotherhood was entertaining but it didn't really hold my interest for too long. If they plan on going with that I can only hope to god they learned from their mistakes such as not making a game where higher level folks get better skills than others and poorly match-make them against newbies. That is, assuming it works at all in the first place.

I don't know if I'd want to see the series get too modern. I think once you get into modern firearms than the game turns into something that isn't AC. The French Revolution might be nice. They could change the story so they can go backwards to ancient China or something.

It should at least be a place with a fair amount of high buildings.

I kinda want to see them jump all over the place time-wise and not just go forward. I mean a modern/future would be cool but... isnt that just Splinter Cell?

Interesting. I was just playing AC:B before I read this, so I was pleasantly surprised... until I saw that it would be coming "this year."

I could see how they managed to release Brotherhood so quickly when it featured a nearly identical setting; it was a fantastic game with the most content by far, actually. The respective AC3 should have a completely new setting with new ideas, and I find it hard to believe that we won't get more-of-the-same if it's being rushed out so quickly.

I really would like to see Ubisoft continue to cultivate their concept into something increasingly impresive as they have with the series so far. I don't want another Activision-esque market flood of annual titles...

I love Assassin Creed a lot but they need to lay back a little. Releasing one sequel every year is too much. It's the best way to get people tired of the franchise in the long run.

This isn't Assassin's Creed 3. That will be released in 2012 where the storyline ends. As long as they give me someone more interesting than Ezio.

Anyway I'm excited, I would love to see them switch to a new character/time/setting.

I have a raging hard-on for this series, but another one this year? Slow it down, lads. Brotherhood was a great game, but it didn't have the same "magic" feeling ACII had.

Space them out more, we're going to get bored or you're going to cock it up if you don't.

Ditch Desmond.
Ezio's time is done.

A new assassin, maybe during the French Revolution? Possibly female?

Also, bring back the puzzles. That was lacking in Brotherhood. Brotherhood was also lacking a reason to carefully examine the surroundings.
