now you will no longer need to leave your house. cause it does everything!
We don't cling to closed platforms. Companies that make closed platforms cling to closed platforms, because if successful they can make tons of money, much more than sharing the pie from an open platform. They can also create a brand loyalty that can be further milked (like the "status" of Apple, Sony, Nintendo, or whatever.)
And those companies are willing to funnel large sums of money and wield larger hammers of influence to create and push that platform to dominance. Enough to knock others out of the game.
Look at Blu-Ray versus HD-DVD versus DVD. DVD was a profitable format, but the pie was cut into a lot of pieces. So there was a battle between the new formats, started years earlier than it needed to be and costing everyone involved large sums of money, for the simple reason that the companies involved felt that the one that won the war would be guaranteed large sums of money and influence for years to come.
Wait what? Isn't that similar to what Steam does?
IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.
phuckers... making you agree not to sue them if they phuck up again their online service and your personal information... or no online for you.
They are the worst in the business.
slimy weasels
awesome if it happens... Nintendo, Apple and Microsoft FTW!... they will all do something different... ...Sony with be the jack of all trades master of none... like always...
but shitty... like they are
Or more than likely, I'll just become a retro gamer, buying old consoles.
Never liked Apple. Never will.
I don't understand the brand loyalty they do, all they do is repackage ideas in shiny plastic, give it an idiot proof interface and market it. They make tools.
This is an art industry, and Apple do not make art. They have never understood games and how to create an environment for them, and there is little chance of them starting.
Steam is still DRM, even if it's pretty much the best DRM for the PC. So Newell can SHUSH up.
Apple has a non-existent tract record for games, unless you count 99 cent impulse buys from the app store. They've done some great stuff, but never showed any understanding of games.
I feel though that if Apple did happen to make a game console every major company or most of the major companies out there would flock to them and make the Apple console their main console while making all others secondary. That may be me simply being negative but I feel like that might happen. Also everyone and there mother would say how its a revolutionary product and how it completely destroys the competition in every way. And every year after its release date every console there after will be a copy cat, lack luster, poorly conceived etc.
Just a thought. Part of me thinks that could happen and the other part thinks probably not. There are, no doubt, people who would spout that kind of stuff. Maybe not a vast majority but you might hear it.
Again Im intrigued at what Apple could make just not intrigued to hear people say how Apple has "once again, like always, revolutionized the technology field single-handedly."
I also think it could be some kind of combo between itouch, ipad, iphone and Apple TV. A new Apple TV with amazing specs possibly?
Who knows. I just dont want to hear how its better than every console ever created and that no console from now till the end of time will ever compare to it or even come close and any competitors will be deemed plagiarizers.
