Can anyone give me the link? I tried copying it from Kotaku, but whenever I try to copy it, the link doesn't show up. Also, the screen is too big on my IPhone, so I can't adjust the size of that huge ass timeline.
I find the deal of failing in OoT bringing LttP make absolutely no sense. Link is facing lots of obstacles in every game, if we counted failure in SS, Hyrule could have never been.

Or a 5th branch where Hyrule gets swallowed by the earth and people have evolved along with Gorons and the game's subtitle is "spirit drill" because Nintendo has some kind of digging gimmick they want to try out with the Wii U's tablet controller.

Why the hell didn't the Time Gate send Link all the way to when Demise and Hylia were fighting? That way, Link could have helped Hylia and stopped Demise, and so that Hylia wouldn't have had to sacrifice herself to rescue her people, thus not reincarnating into Zelda, and thus the Zelda universe we all have played these past 25 years were just a parallel hoax and that the Skyward Sword Link didn't actually happen, causing gamers a massive BRAINFUCK because this is just a videogame, not real life.

I don't think Nintendo is dumb enough to confuse gamers by having the same subtitle in two games. Spirit Tracks already had "Spirit" in it, so Spirit Drill is out of the question. Maybe Soul Drill?

This is one of those things I think I don't want to know . Kind of takes the mystery out of it when you're just handed a timeline. Somethings are better left a mystery , like Dr. Claws face from Inspector Gadget.

The only reason I would believe this "timeline" to be true is the art style that pertains for all 3 games in the "The adult era that Link leaves then follows with The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks" is the same.

While WW, PH, and ST do have the same artstyle, it has been known for a very long time now that these games are direct sequels to each other. WW to PH is about a few days or weeks, while PH to ST is about a century, or 100 years.

Btw, holy hell, Loftwings are called Loftbirds in Japan? The image says so and is written in Katakana... Or is that just a placeholder name that they used before? If Loftwings are really called Loftbirds in Japan, I don't think non-Japanese Zelda players should try to figure out the timeline since translations almost all the time get lost in translation, messing up what the original Japanese text meant to say.

What about the Picori Blade? It was very similar to the Master Sword and it gets broken at the beginning of The Minish Cap and then you forge the Four Sword using it as a base.
All three branches reconcile thousands of years later, when Cthulhu rises and warps reality into an incoherent, misshapen parody of itself. This era is chronicled in the CD-i games.
The thing that boggles my mind is the fact that some people think there needs to be a timeline. It's just wholesome and fun stories of heroes saving distressed damsels, only using familiar icons like Link, Zelda and the Master Sword so fans can identify the brand.
Why the hell don't they just fucking admit that there was no planned timeline and all the games are their own separate entities instead of trying to shoehorn them into some stupid tree that is full of holes and retarded connections that make no sense. Its not like not having an official timeline will instantly make all the game shit.

And in that one Ganondorf died for good and the Master Sword was buried with him beneath the ocean.

The third timeline quasi makes sense, because Four Swords GBA refers to Link to the Past, and then in Seasons/Ages they revive Ganon, then he kills him in Zelda 1, then they try to revive him again in 2, years later.
Why even need a timeline :P Its not like it has a overarching story, each game is its own installment, its an anthology series.

Why are some of you guys being dickheads, if there's timeline great if there isn't, its not like it'll make the games worse or anything.

I always kind of assumed that all the Zelda games were on their own individual timelines, but with little references to each other to show some sort of inter-game awareness. No matter though, I enjoy 'em regardless of whatever the hell the timeline actually is.

this timeline is stupid. I honestly liked ocarinohero's timeline better. At least it relied on the actual story instead of inventing alternate universes. Granted, alternate worlds like the one in Majora's Mask exist, that is not this. With this, Nintendo created some kind of Shrodinger's Cat situation where conceivably every one of Link's decision could have its own universe. It's fucking stupid. Why would they do this? I am befuddled.

Yeah, the "Link failed" timeline doesn't make much sense to me. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a misinterpretation by the fan who translated the text.

This looks a little wonky to me, but I've never understood what everyone was so excited about. Zelda's so good that it needs no timeline. All I need to know is that every hundred years or so Link appears to save Zelda and Hyrule, and sometimes we get an extra adventure or two out of the same Link.
That third timeline is BS. Anyone who actually bothered to play Four Swords Adventures knows that it's purposely a direct prequel to ALttP. It uses the same overworld, and sets up the events for god sake. Otherwise everything else seems more or less about right.

TIMELINE B: After FUTURE Link Defeats gannon
TIMELINE C: When he goes back and carries on as Child Link

Actually, the third split is the world that remains after Link opens the Gate of Time and goes to the future. When Link goes back at the end, he goes back to when he first met Zelda, so that parallel where he gets the Spiritual Stones and opens the Gate of Time is left unsaved.
Wait....if Link doesn't defeat Ganon, then the timeline should just end. Link was told he was the only one who could defeat Ganon (no CD-i jabs, please :D), so if Ganon is somehow sealed by the sages and "knights" of Hyrule without Link....then what was the point to him fighting in the first place? If the sages just needed canon fodder, there was no point.
