New Zack & Wiki screens photo

There's an awful lot of buzz over Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure, buzz that I had previously ignored because I was busy fighting off tiny, terrifying face-orb monsters or something to bother noticing. Then IGN's Matt Casamassina recently kickstarted a campaign to motivate readers to.. y'know, buy it. Being that it wasn't your typical news post, I took notice and -- hey, look at that, it's pretty. And it's a Wii remote-based puzzle adventure game? Count me among the corrected, then; Zack and Wiki, despite its crummy name, looks to be one of the more interesting titles bound for your Wii this Fall.

Capcom's uploaded some new screenshots of the game, which I have in turn uploaded to Destructoid, which you may download to your face. Hit that gallery to check 'em out.

Have been watching this game since it was "Treasure Island Z." The new name is horrible, but the game play looks innovative and solid and Matt over at WII IGN can't stop raving about it.

I have to give Matt credit though, the last time they had a "buy this game" campaign it was for Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, one of the best and most under-rated GC titles ever. I bought Eternal Darkness and was blown away (god that game rocked, going insane ruled), so I think I'll be picking this up. Not to mention, it's a point and click adventure on a console, woot!

Looking very nice indeed. Finally someone using the machine properly rather than beating us savagely with waggle-ports.

P.S. The Toclafane are indeed terrifying.

P.P.S. Why do Doctor Who season finales always make me go sad panda? First Rose, and now the entirely of that last episode. Russell T. Davies likes upsetting me.

Aww, sea bunnies! The girl is going to want me to buy this game for that alone.

Yeah, that jerk. Martha was awesome, but the Doc was like "Oh, yeah, I don't dig you at all. Go fuck off."

Also sad panda: no new Who 'til Christmas. Daaaviiiies!

Yeah, when I'm not gaming or watching DVDs my TV's basically a redundant, useless box outside of summer and Christmas. Only the arrival of The Doctor ever makes me switch it on these days.

But yeah, Martha's had a bitch of a time. If he'd met her before Rose, The Doctor would have been begging her to stay. He'd better give her a call when he's got his head sorted out.

Jesus, I feel like a teenage girl talking about Hollyoaks.

Damn it, I so need to put the new Doctor Who on my Netflix.

These "buy this underpromoted game" campaigns are nice in concept, but I have the sinking feeling that most people make game purchasing decisions independently of game blogs or reviews.

Why, I have no idea. I won't even spend $8 on a movie I don't know much about without checking Rotten Tomatoes; spending $50-$60 on a crapshoot seems so extravagant.

Oh, another little note, this game is going for $39.95 MSRP when it comes out. Nice little price break too.

This game looks pretty good, but I really just want Monkey Island Wii.

Actually, I'd prefer Zak Mckracken Wii, but that's asking too much.

Tron, while we're asking for too much, how 'bout full-fledged Wii remakes of the entire SCUMM catalog?

Ohhhhh Aaron, that would be a sick sick thing... could you imagine if they built a new SCUMM engine for the Wii then did some sort of downloadable content ala the online store to re-release all the games.

PS Don't forget GrimE, I want Grim Fandango remade too if the others are!

PPS If anyone hasn't played the Sam and Max eps on gametap, go pay $9.99 and get access to them all 6 right now, they're really good and brought back alot of the original style and humor.
