New York Post sues Uwe Boll over Postal web site photo

It's known (in the gaming world, at least) that famed game film maker Uwe Boll likes to push people's buttons, but now it looks like he picked on the wrong people, and they're taking him to court.

In what may be a clever attempt to get back at the New York Post for publishing negative things about one of his movies, Boll made two websites that look similar to the Post's web site to promote his game-turned-film Postal. The conflict between Boll and the Post began on April 15th, when the Post published an article about the movie's release.

The brilliantly named New York Postal is still up, and visitors to the site will notice the headline that mocks this very lawsuit (pictured above). The other site mentioned is not anymore. We're not sure what happened there.

The Post says that Boll's web sites represent "brazen and unlawful infringement of the New York Post's valuable intellectual property." They are asking that the sites be taken down, the domain names be transfered to them, and are also asking for unspecified damages.

I hope he challenges them to box. If there's anything about Boll that I approve of, it's how he settles issues with fisticuffs.

i love uwe boll...

he's the guy gamers want censored, meanwhile those same gamers bitch about censors on games...

he's like a monument to the stupidity and hopelessness of humanity..

maybe if you could accept uwe for who he is and the shitty movies he makes, then others like walmart and the esrb could accept mediocre games like manhunt 2 who are only regarded as worthwhile due to the controversy they produce?

then, maybe walmart might post pictures of the 5 year olds sewing your white-trash clothing with 'adopt me' signs, right up next to those missing or stolen american children...

but doubt it...

Wow, after looking at that site, I have to say I'ts probably the best example of viral marketing i've seen in a long time.

Only thing that comes close is the Harvey Dent stuff.

The site is parody and therefore not breaking copyright. This case will be thrown out quickly.

From the site:
"Dr. Ann-Rose Kahn: Surprisingly, yes. The average Internet-Basher is male, single, between 20 – 30 years old. He has a low social competence, lives on the net. He has a strong homoerotic intention which he is unable to live out and distinctive inferiority complex. Most of these men still live at their parent’s home or close to it."

This also counts for fanboys stating which is 'better'.

Many more lulz to be made on that promo-site than on the original paper! Now leak the movie already.

Well, I'm on the Post's side. If an idiot like Boll was copying my newspaper, I'd sue-rape the shit out of him.

I always feel bad for Boll with all of the hating that goes on. Sure, he hasn't had the best luck with critical reception of his films. But, the man is a genius! He's the greatest German tax shelter alive!
