Triforce (very nice guy, talented gamer) is already in line in Manhattan, at Best Buy. He was there as of yesterday night, actually. He's "keeping the tradition" of being at Nintendo launches, he says. He has a bit of a wait, as the 3DS will not go on sale until this weekend.

From what he says in the video, I think he's expecting too much out of being the first person at launch. Maybe he'll get something, but I wouldn't expect much. He'll be thinking about a shower much more than he'll be thinking about any kind of bonus gift. To be fair, he has a sub-in plan to have guys switch out with him so he can use the bathroom and clean up. Still, it's going to be hard. I hope it stays warm in New York.

I'm not judging. I still love lining up for game system launches. I think it's a lot of fun.

Good luck, man!

My gosh, having queued 7 hours for an iPhone 4 on the day of launch (after being told it would take 2 hours) I don't envy these guys.

I remember I got my DS phat on launch day by just walking in on day 1 and casually bought one. I wonder if those days are over.

Am I the only one who thinks this guy is a complete moron?

I have mine paid off along with two games, I'll just walk in, grab it, and leave. And because time zones, I'll be playing it before that store he's at even opens on Sunday. I really don't see what he thinks he's accomplishing here. I did it once, at the 360 launch, and it was one of the worst ideas I've ever had. The excitement of getting the thing at launch was immediately killed by the week of recovery my body needed to process the irregular sleep and diet.

Too bad the weather is going to be shit the next couple of days for him. Sleet and snow possible? Rain a definite. Nights in the 20s. Have fun with that man. I'll get mine when some decent games come out for it.

I think he does this for the "fun" or attention of it. That's cool for him, but the only time I waited in line for a console was the limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 -- which I didn't even get because it sold out before I got to the register.

I will never wait in line for a product ever again.

(looks at his pre-order on Amazon for the 3DS)

Nope. Never.

I've waited 8 hours outside a concert venue for general admission concerts in the past and usually have a blast with friends and other fans just waiting, so I understand the appeal. But 6-7 days of waiting? I'll pass! I appreciate his dedication though!

The fact that this makes you so mad is both hilarious and depressing. Why do you care so much? Is it really worth complaining about and calling him names? Let him have his fun, it doesn't affect you at all.

People pre-order for a reason.

I stood in like for about 15 minutes to buy GTA III for the special edition so unless I can get a group of friends to camp out with me and a case of beer, I will never do anything to this extent.

I like to wait a week and stroll into places to buy my shiz, but this guy is hardcore so I tip my hat at thee!

I did it once, eight hours in line for the "2nd launch" of the Xbox 360 at my local Bestbuy. I blame it on the fact that I was already shitfaced getting to the store, looking to get a movie. The fact that people in line were passing around Hennessy was the only good thing, other than that it wasn't exciting to me. I'm not a fan and I don't feel sorry for this guys dedication.

How does somebody who types like a 12 year old accuse another person of acting like a 12 year old?

Pooch, you have so far (in order):
1) Called him a "deuche" [a misspelled insult]
2) Claimed he "needs to stop trying so hard" [evidence that you are bothered]
3) Claimed he brings "shame-by-association" to gamers [more evidence that you are bothered, also false]
4) Called him an asshat (another, uncalled for, insult)
5) Accused some one who finds this amusing of being a "pro gaming" "tool"
7) Repeatedly called the 3DS a "gameboy"
8) Repeatedly told somebody who is asking you to lighten up to grow up

If you aren't upset by what TriForce is doing, stop acting like it. You're not just laughing at the silliness of a man waiting in line for the 3DS. You're being obnoxious and offensive and it's made worse by your terrible typing and grammatical skills.

Justin Wong left EMP, and Justin Wong is a dickbag... Imagine the type of shit that needs to be done to get someone like JWong to leave.

This man is a trooper. Do you know what he's going through right now? It's currently 52 degrees right now with a small drizzle of rain that will be followed my snowfall later tonight. That weather pattern will remain consistent till Friday when it clears up to cloudy skies. This guy is either insane or dedicated if he is still there. @ pooch77

It's amazing how you call TriForce and "Empire Arcadia" a wannabe group of pro gamers. We have our own brand of arcade sticks. TriForce just broke the Vs. Super Mario world record last weekend at the Kong-Off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F3Bw0NwoAU

EMP Dieminion has been in London for the past 2 months placing top 3 in all of the European Major Street Fighter tournaments as well as winning the World Game Cup in France.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Wx8uSAfFiI

EMP IFC Yipes has his own line of clothing by Brokentier.
http://kotaku.com/#!5773075/eff-the-knicks-eff-these-t+shirts

We even have our own J!nx commercial that was aired last year on G4TV.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyrNvFoIy4w&feature=channel_video_title

You fail to prove that Empire Arcadia is a wannabe group of professional gamers and what I posted above makes your statement moot. Anyone can walk in a store and purchase a 3DS upon launch. If you really think that that is TriForce's aim then you are completely delusional. Like TriForce says, "It's not just about winning; it's what you do with that win." And being the first to receive the 3DS just like the Wii, greeted by Reggie Fils-Aime as well as the media once again will indeed be a win.
