I got seriously dissed by Dtoider Nothankyou in the last post I did about Xenoblade. He scooped me on these two videos, which are admittedly more interesting than the series of commercials for the game that I had just posted. You win this round, Nothankyou. I stand in awe of your videogame news scooping prowess.

If you want to see the two soon-to-be-dead Gods that Colette freaked out over in this week's Bit Transmission, check out the video above. Past the jump, you'll find a vid that shows just how dead those God's are, and how the game's characters run around on their bodies like homeless fleas.

Despite the fact that playing an 80 hour RPG on a home console is a near-impossibility in my current household, I'll still be picking this game up if-and-when it hits the States. How about you? Sold on Xenoblade yet?

I like how people talk about the whole "if-and-when" thing for the US release of this when Monado was first shown at E3 to begin with. It'll come to the US.

Also, that music is amazing, the environment is extremely expansive, it has quick travel if you want it, you can save anywhere and it has a day/night cycle. Then we have a story written by two of the best in all of RPGs and a battle system that looks to be very fun and this thing's an instant purchase.

This is the sort of RPG I want to see more of.

I actually more hyped up for the Last Story. I just love awesome airships. But this one have big Gods and the combat system looks like FFXII and thats a really good thing. I probably will get both games, if they comes out in Europe. Lets us hope that happends.

@ EggmaniMN- Just because a game was shown at E3 doesn't mean it's going to be released in the US. Trust me, I wish it were that simple, but plenty of games have been shown at trade shows, to never be seen again.

Up until now i was like "Meh, could be great, could not", but now I'm sold. This looks AMAZING. i don't like the at style, but I'll get over it, because i lvoe the huge expansive world and all this other stuff they're showing.

Also looking forward to The Last Story and Dragon Quest X! Perhaps Tales of Graces.

...holy crap, when did Wii become the RPG king?

ALSO! To those of you doubting, Nintendo of America officially has this listed for release in NA. So YAY! =D

Normally I'd worry about localization, but this is Nintendo, they're great with localizations. Tis a shame that shitty localization is gonna kill Arc Rise Fantasia though. :(

@ Triple Up- Yeah, and Kirby Wii has been on NoA release lists since 2007. And Nintendo isn't all that great about bringing games to the States. Didaster, Day of Crisi, Fatal Frame 4, and Captain Rainbow are just a few that come to mind.

So Last Story and this are on my Wii RPG list. Arc Rise can come back as soon as I get confirmation that there is a mute/Japanese voice over option. To be fair some of the voices are acceptable but some are just... ugg.

It will come, the comparison with Day of Crisis (mediocrity at best, trust me, it was released here), Fatal Frame IV (issues with game bugs and Tecmo), and Captain Rainbow (uh, no company will ever localise anything like that, ever) is not really valid. Why spend millions on an expansive RPG to not release it everywhere? Unless it ends up crap and not worth the localisation cost of course, but I have faith, for now. Anyway, I'm sure we'll see it at E3, alongside The Last Story's first in-motion reveal, possibly.

Disaster's lack of a release in the States is still pretty unacceptable, as far as I'm concerned. It's gotten to the point that people want to play it just because of the fact that it never came here.

Jonathon Holmes should stop being so pessimistic. Considering how many of this developer's games have been localized in the past, and how big of a game this seems to be, and yes E3 '09, this game WILL come to America.

@Jonathan

The problem with Fatal Frame was not with Nintendo, but with Tecmo america, who didn't want to fix the bugs from the original version for an american release, since the game never was that big outside Japan.

Also keep in mind these are re-encoded from youtube re-encoded stretched out versions from the tiny, tiny resolution videos available on the game's official website so, yeah, the quality suffers quite a bit.

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/sx4j/

And related translations from andriasang. It seems there are a lot of systems under the exploration and fighting and story. It's almost as if it's influenced by Western RPG games, what with getting XP just for exploring, being able to jump (and having falling damage), having side quests that are more like strings, with completing one quest for an NPC opening up quests from other NPCs they have some relations to, party member relations (nothing new for JRPG, but still not too common) having an ongoing quest of slowly rebuilding a city that was destroyed, fast travel, day/night cycles and the ability to warp to the time of day you want (no word on if that's gonna be needed for certain quests) instead of wait, having your new armor loot affecting your character's looks, which is very rare for a JRPG, etc.

I'm...it's hard for me to be sold about new RPGs, because I've been burned by so many. But...I'm cautiously optimistic. I need to know how the battle system works. I'm hoping, I'm being optimistic, that it'll be like Final Fantasy XII's should have been, more tactics and less flash, and that I'll love it.

But, I'm wary.

Excuse me sir, but I thought streaming videos were supposed to, I dunno, STREAM. Why can't I fast forward when my browser choked part-way through?

I wouldn't mind pushing a good many webmonkeys across the globe into a fire, just for things like that.

P.S. Good on ya for the Nothankyou link, so I could just go to youtube to resume my scheduled programming.

What's really strange is that we're not likely to see proper direct-feed footage of the game until it hits retail. I've never understood why a lot of Japanese devs/publishers - Nintendo in particular - never upload high-quality video of their content.

Anyway ...

Apart from the "I kinda look like a lot of other jRPGs" vibe, the game's setting and focus on exploration have me hoping to hear (and see) more of this at E3.

Oh, while we wait, could NoA publish Soma Bringer for the DS? Also, while taking requests, Archaic Sealed Heat looked awesome, but got beat to the gameplay punch slightly by SMT: Devil Survivor. I could use some more o' that.

Also, I hope it's not too much to ask Monolith Soft for, but I would love dual-language support for the game. I enjoy perfecting my Japanese with video games and I'm always surprised by the change in character many localizations make. Not to mention the little nuances that get changed as well(Disgaea is a good example.)

@ MRLN- That's really weird to me. Would you also refuse to see a movie just because one of the actors was sort of ugly? If that was how everyone thought, only movies with an all super-model cast would make any money.

Oh wait, that's how Hollywood actually works. I knew there was a reason why I never go to the movies.

Although, if there are an infinite number of parallel universes, somewhere there is a parallel universe where Tetsuya Takahashi splits from Monolith and sets up a studio to make Xenogears episodes 1-4 and 6 on PS3, licensed and published by Square Enix...
