New XCOM: Enemy Unknown images emerge photo

Game Informer has shared three more images -- screenshots and concept art -- of Firaxis' upcoming XCOM: Enemy Unkown with the world. From the looks of it, the UI is pretty clean to fit the multiplatform approach and the new game features some different camera angles thanks to the shift to a 3D engine.

Also worth checking out is the video interview with art director Greg Foertsch who talks about the art style for the game, the use of cameras, and other things. You can even spot an X-COM logo in one of the concept art images for the soldiers in the video.

Looking great, just hoping that "Classic Mode" they are going to have will include the old Time Unit gameplay, if not, I'll still buy, but I'd prefer it if that's the case.

I know this is probably just wishfull thinking, but is anyone else getting a valkyria chronicles vibe from the combat mechanics?

I cannot wait. After what looks like the possible rape syndicate and imo the definite rape of that fp xcom, this excites me and makes me happy. Besides I'm getting tired of shadow warrior and frozen synapse.

Sweet deal! Hopefully Firaxis Games will move onto a Syndicate game after this as well.

Thank you, 2K for listening.

After reading the GI article I'm not sure how I feel about such drastic pros/cons decisions. i realize they are in every game but I'd always feel like I made the wrong choice and it would bug me, so hopefully the combat portions are fun enough.

What are they using instead of TU? I don't remember hearing any details about how turns are spent.

This is actually showing signs of being potentially great. I'm quivering with excitement.

This is looking good. I *think* can see where they're going with it graphically while possibly still retaining the old gameplay. They could borrow some concepts from Valkyria Chronicles as far as how line of sight works if they're going full 3d on the tactical battles.
