New Xbox Experience coming with next issue of OXM photo

Microsoft's decision to cleanse the world of the old Xbox 360 dashboard continues apace with news that the NXE will appear as part of the next issue of Official Xbox Magazine. It'll be on the cover disc for idiots with an unconnected console to manually install.

This disc comes prior to the forced NXE installation that Microsoft will be implementing soon, as it packs the NXE into upcoming game discs and makes customers go through the process before being allowed to play. This is your last chance to do it voluntarily, before Microsoft starts lining people up against the wall.

You WILL like the New Xbox Experience, or Microsoft will f*cking kill you.

It's their hardware so I guess they can do what they want.

I sat here staring at this for 5 minutes and I don't get it. What's with the picture of the lobster?

sickNasty, you just won the question of the day. i can say i'm in the same boat but that's what makes Jim's style of writing so compelling, you think about what is most likely just a random picture adding it just for the sake of being random.

I don't understand, why is Microsoft forcing people to use the NXE? Is it because of standardization? Reducing costs?

But is it random? I can't shake the feeling that it somehow relates to this article.

Is it symbolic? Perhaps Pinchy here represents Microsoft tightening it's Pincer-like grip on it's customers?

I like the NXE, in a bimboish sort of way - it's just as functional as last time around but it's much prettier!

NXE is unstable. I never once had any issues with the old Dashboard.

NXE freezes, takes forever to load music (I keep MP3s on a USB flash drive so it doesn't eat away anything on the 20GB HDD) and I'm pretty sure the NXE contributed to my RROD 2 months ago. Thanks Microsoft.

Yeah, this is the sort of thing that keeps me from buying a 360 in the first place.
M$ always pulls all kinds of crap. For my PC I have never in over 20 years ever seen a release of Windows anything that didn't need patches and bug fixes galore.
Of course I remember running an 8088 procressor the one that came before the 8086 and all other --86 CPU's.
I'm not saying the Xbox 360 is bad, but rather the BS that M$ pulls with ALL their products is just too much.

i love how microsoft just abandons its software and no longer supports it even when there new software either sucks or doesnt always work.

EX. no more support or patches for XP so people are forced to goto Vista or something else.

I think in some cases, NXE works better than the old dashboard.

I think we all figured this would happen at some point. No big deal IMO. Although I find putting the NXE on game discs is a little excessive. I mean DAMN.

Luckily I did it already, wouldn't wanna get 'shot' by MS :-)

nah seriously, its just a way to get updates to their users, sony has been doing forced updates via gamediscs for years...

Isn't the NXE already packaged into a lot of games already? Actually it's nice of them to keep the offline users up to date, although the NXE is almost useless without internet.

NXE is hideous. The only reason I "upgraded" to it was to be able to install games to the HDD. Everything was faster and easier to access in the old front end. But that's Microsoft, they like it better so you have to like it better. Buy a new computer? Enjoy Vista! Don't like the new features? Too bad.

Being a post-nxe adoptor, I say it barely registers in my useage of my xbox, so my friends show up as Miis, big frickin' deal. If I can run my games from my HDD then that's all I need.

One should be able to set up their Xbox as they want, and hide all the stupid inside Xbox stuff. And get rid of the new friends thing, as I cant seem to understand how thats better than a list.

I hate M$ M$ is BS how daer they 4ce me in2 an ^date screw M$ amicool na0 2?

The old dashboard was laggy and froze up as well. I have not seen any markedly drastic increase in lag, loading times or any other frustrating phenomena. It's the same just looks better and with extra "blades".

No, I take that back. I contend that it loads FASTER now. Your complaints have now been offset - have a great day complaining about something else corporate. I am off to cut down a tree.

Every time I start up my 360 it takes me about 5-10 seconds to log in. I see some marketplace crap and I keep going up and down trying to find the login area.
