Last week we dropped the bombshell that zombies would be included in Treyarch’s World War II shooter, World at War. The above video shows the zombies in action. Notice the beautiful shuffle, the moans, and the wondrously creepy glowing eyes. It is almost as if these huggable creatures are hungry for human flesh or something.

As mentioned previously, zombies will only be included in a special cooperative mode earned after completing the entirety of the single player campaign. The goal of the mode is to avoid being pulled apart by the savage hordes of zombies infinitely spawning in waves. Avoidance can happen in two ways. The first is running away and hiding behind a teammate. The other is shooting the aggressor before you become its meal. The latter is probably the better strategy, as you’ll keep friends longer and reap the benefits of a healthy social life.

I’m beginning to think that adding zombies to any game instantly makes it a better product. Imagine if there were zombies in the Xbox 360 version of Two Worlds. Instant classic, right?

Smart move on Treyarch's part. Won't hold a candle to Left 4 Dead, I'm sure, but it definitely takes some wind out of Valve's sails. It'll surely sway some people deciding between COD and L4D.

I don't care if zombies are getting effed out, this looks awesome.

My only beef is why must you complete the game before you get to fight zombies?

True, Call of Duty games are fairly easy to complete. But no-one should have to wait for zombies.

That actually seems like it'd make a great arcade minigame. I still don't think I'd buy a war game for that, though...

Wolfenstein much? You could even burn zombies with a flamethrower in RTCW.

This looks like it's going to be higher quality than I was expecting, but having only a map or two will make it become repetitive.

Left4Dead is obviously the zombie game to get, since it was designed as a zombie game. That doesn't make this any less awesome though.

@Hoss
I doubt it. You unlock it by beating the campaign, I believe.

New idea, scrap the main game. Make this the main game. ;)

Yeah, this should totally be a stand alone game. I like the whole slow zombies attacking a stronghold set-up and it is a fun spin on the WW2 setting. Would buy.

Meh at that. this is Treyarch saying "we know this COD is going to be worse than last year, so were adding zombie mode."
