Have you bought the little Motion Plus doingle for your Wii remote yet? If you want to play the new Zelda, then you're going to have to. The next time we travel to Hyrule on the Wii, we will only be able to do so with the Motion Plus accessory.
"After actually making it compatible," explains producer Eiji Aonuma, "it just feels so natural. Link's sword and the controller that you're holding become one." Players will use Motion Plus to freely swing Link's sword, and it's been hinted that the way in which you fight enemies will be integral to some of the game's puzzles.
Elsewhere, Aonuma has stated that he hopes to have the new game playable at E3. The team will be working hard to get playable code ready as soon as possible. He also reveals that the game's basics are more or less ready, stating that "the core areas have come into clear view."
Sounds good. I'd love to check out a playable Zelda at E3, but I don't relish the massive line that will form around that particular kiosk.

Isn't this what they said about Twilight Princess?
As long as it comes included...
Not that i care, i don't even have a Wii. But it seems stupid unless it is packaged in with the game.
Got all that from one piece of concept art did ya???
Also, Motion+ is pretty amazing. If you haven't gotten something with it already, I'd say you've been missing out.
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
Regards.
I know what I've said is blasphemy, and no gamer is allowed to criticize any Zelda or Mario game.
That being said, I'm just going based on Nintendo's pattern. Ocarina of Time was a true advancement in the series, and since then it's just been a cookie cutter formula. Sure, they add a bit of filler to the story to add slight variation, but in the end it's essentially the same game, playing the same way.
But ofcourse anything can happen, and Nintendo could end up surprising me. But chances are it'll just be more of the same.
You sound really pessimistic about the next Zelda game, why not wait for a bit more info before you peg it as more of the same?
And more of the same wouldn't really be an issue to me, I guess I just see more variety within the games than you do. I'd kill for another Link to the Past -style Zelda, but as long as they stay away from anything that resembles Majora's Mask, I can't imagine the next game not being great. Maybe you're just burned-out with the series? That can happen, but that's usually more of an issue with your own tastes and preferences, than an issue with the games themselves.
So you've played it then? Cool! Care to give me your impressions of Final Fantasy 14 and Halo Reach while you're at it?
They're all more of the same. lol
I'd love a Link to the Past style game also.
There is a sequelish game to Link to the Past called "Four Sword Adventures"(god I hope they make a second one)
and I think you've only fought Ganon like 6 times.
Though I think she's just saying these things to get responses.
Unless they bundle it with the new Motion Plus Plus.
You know it's coming.
You're right. Ocarina of Time was just a Link to the Past in 3D. But moving the game into 3D was an innovative leap. As was the change in control scheme.
So that just goes to show you that every console Zelda game is pretty much the same.
I'm not counting the handhelds cause those are the only ones that seem to do anything different.
Agreed.
I'm extremely satisfied with Sports Resort, so not only did I get a fun little game there but it also set me up for the next Zelda.
I hope it's more of the same (or similar, anyways) too. If I wanted something different from past Zelda games I'd buy something else.
And the hype has begun!
If Red Steel 2 is a success i'll get the bundled pack if not i'll get the separate 10$ add-on then. I don't get why people whine so much about a 10$ piece of hardware (unlike the usual overpriced plastic stuff) when they pay much more in avatar clothes and crappy DLC, hell, i'm probably gonna be called a fanboy just for daring to say this.
@DtoidBadMrK: Yeah, it will probably be more of the same, just like any FPS where you carry a gun an shoot enemies while going from point A to B, maybe add a gimmick like bullet time, or time control or alternate weapons in disguise of biologic powers. Yeah, same old same old.
@dtoid mad mrk
you're forgetting about windwaker, and ALL of the portable zelda's. your argument = fail.
I swear to God they said that when Twilight Princess came out.
Yeah, it's true. Every FPS is the same also. But atleast you fight different enemies, and have much more variety in story with FPS games. I mean Darksiders was a Zelda knockoff, but I can accept it cause atleast it was a story that I haven't seen before.
It wouldn't be so bad if Zelda was a continuing story, that actually had some sort of continuity. But Nintendo has stated that every Zelda game is a standalone game, and each Link is different. If that's a case, then why not tell a different story? (Again, I'm only talking about the home console versions, not the handhelds.)
It's true. They did say that with Twilight Princess. But that was a way to hype their motion controller before people knew that it didn't do 1:1 motion mapping.
Of course unless you're really into these games then you think I'm just talking bollocks, but then again I could easily accuse all of the Halo/Killzone/Resistance games as being essentially the same, and I could clearly see where I'd be wrong.
What don't you like about Wii Motion Plus? Not that you're wrong to do so, just that I've rarely heard functional complaints about the thing.
Remember, Majora's Mask required the N64 Expansion Pak to play, and it most certainly was NOT packed in with the game.
Let's be real: Zelda fans are not going to skip a title because some of them need to go buy a $20 peripheral ($18 on Amazon, $10 bundled with a Wii Remote) that works with an increasing number of games. And casual gamers probably already own Wii Sports Resort.
So chill.
"You're right. Ocarina of Time was just a Link to the Past in 3D. But moving the game into 3D was an innovative leap. As was the change in control scheme."
Make your next one make any sense?
"So that just goes to show you that every console Zelda game is pretty much the same."
Bottom Line: We have 1 concept art shot, some developer quotes and nothing else to go on. Every Zelda game isn't the same, though they have similar plot elements as it is a "Legend".
Stay Tuned...
Excitebots - packaged with wheel and without wheel
Wii Sports Resort - packaged with Motion Plus
Mario Kart Wii - packaged with wheel and without wheel
Wii Fit/Wii Fit Plus - packaged with pad and without pad
We've even had third party bundles with the thing.
If it requires an add-on, Nintendo has ALWAYS packaged the add-on with the game. ALWAYS.
I doubt not having one already will be a problem, because we can be pretty sure that the game will come with one included. Considering how both WSR, and RS2 have/will included one, which those are the only two Motion Plus exclusive games thus far.
With such few details currently available, you could be right and I may yet eat my words... but I'm pretty stubborn.
@ Tubatic,
I'm not going to lie, I'm still a little bitter about its existence in the first place, though I can push that issue aside however. So anyways, through all the praise it got I thought I'd finally check out Wii Sports Resort and I was very disappointed. I just didn't like any of the games on that collection and I felt the Wii Motion Plus added no extra amount of sensitivity. I feel like I could have played all those silly games just fine with the regular remote. On top of that, I play lots of retro games holding the Wii Remote sideways and holding the remote sideways while having Wii Motion Plus attached is too cumbersome to hold and more cumbersome to remove both cover and device every time I wish to play something else. So I just don't like it.
"If it requires an add-on, Nintendo has ALWAYS packaged the add-on with the game. ALWAYS."
Demonstrably untrue. Majora's Mask required the N64 Expansion Pak, which was NOT packed in with the game.
"Save the world and yourself by advancing shooting every demon until you kill the demon leader"
"Save the city and yourself by advancing shooting every thug until you kill the druglord"
"Save this alternate reality and yourself by advancing shooting every lackey/soldier until you kill the evil scientist ruling all"
I can accept that FPS are the same thing in the very core, what makes a difference from your regular FPS clone to let's say Bioshock it's the personality, polish and soul that game is imbued by developers, it also helps that it took the usual story type i just mentioned and made you question it. Same thing applies to Zelda, yes, you know you'll fight Ganon in the end after going through several dungeons and powering up, but the destination is not what's important, what's important is how awesome the trip is[/zen], can other run of the mill "cinematic medieval 3rd person experiences" claim to even do half better (Demon's Souls is the only one i can think of right now)? hell maybe it's brand power that sells games, but if brand is the only thing selling games how come Sonic rehashed games have gone done down the toilet while Zelda remains acclaimed thorough DECADES? yes, sure, quality and polish in those games had nothing to do with it, it was just brand power and rehashing that keeps em alive.
It's retarded to even think they won't package it with the game.
