Quantcast

The game is Zangeki no Reginliev, the first M-rated title (or at least, the Japanese equivalent of that rating) to be published by Nintendo of Japan. It was developed by the creators of the Xbox 360 cult-classic Earth Defense Force 2017, and features 4 player online co-op.

It looks pretty fun. It's a relief that the game isn't on-rails as previously reported. The motion and pointer controls appear to be well implemented, and the violence looks to be constant and appropriately over-the-top. Even better is the game's audio. I wouldn't normally post such a blurry video, but it just sounds so awesome. I've had it playing in the background all night as I've been working on other stuff, and it made me feel like I had my own personal all male Japanese cheerleading squad. "YUSHA!" is right.

I really hope this game comes to the states, and I really hope it's not dubbed. A Fatal Frame 4-style translation patch wouldn't be bad either.

Two more videos await you after the jump.

If NoA won't bring over Day of Crisis, I doubt they'll bring this over.

Bastards.

Huh. So it's kinda like resident evil 4 like controls, except with swords? That sounds interesting. Is this already out in Japan?

Looks like Dynasty Warriors, except that I've never actually played Dynasty Warriors so my comparison is probably totally inaccurate. :/

I'm intrigued, especially by the 4 player online co-op. I love the art style and monster design (especially the giants). The interface looks slick as well, particularly the ranged attack. This needs to be brought over.

^It wont. because it will sell 300 copies. Unless it tracks how many calories you lose or if you replace the main character with mario.

I thought Eternal Darkness and Geist were the first Nintendo games to get M-ratings, well, at least in the states, I don't know if they got M-ratings in Japan, or if they were even released in Japan. But this game looks awesome.

Looks we can all hope it will come here since we're a crazed killing society who play violent games. They might make some money off of us.

Not sure if I'm interested in this yet.

Its probably better that way. There's no way NoA is going to publish a Cero D game.

Wow. That's clearly a Sandlot game.

Might I suggest collectively approaching Agetec, the guys that brought over Way of the Samurai 3? They seem very squarely like the, metaporically, don't give a fuck when it comes to porting niche gamss.

Now i normally love me them Jap games. This however looks terrible. Dodgy camera (how many times did they get stuck against a fence), a sword system that seems to be just a light or hard vertical slash motion with the 'mote and don't get me started on how long the bow and arrow targeting system took to lock on. So disapointing and i hope it doesn't make its way over here as poor game equals poor sales, equals other, better, games less likely to make the same trip.
