Level 5's Shirokishi Monogatari (which you might know better as White Knight Story) is one of those titles that non-PS3 owners shake their fist towards the sky at. Early on in the wave of PS3 promotional videos, the short glimpse of gameplay from Tokyo Game Show 2006 had RPG fans salivating, and lately eyes have been on Sony's Japan Studio as a 2007 Japanese release is planned.

A new video has just came out of Sony Japan, and those same salivating RPG fans may now flip over on their backs and begin to sieze, as this new footage looks incredible. We now get to see the gorgeous screenshots from Shirokishi's Japanese we page in motion, and from the looks of it, Level 5 has created an epic game.

New footage is nice to see as we still don't know much about this game. Let's hope that Sony has something prepared for us at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show.

Why the excitement? There's absolutely no information about gameplay, all you're doing is looking at pretty pictures. Until tonight, there was no gameplay footage of MGS4 either, yet people were still going nuts for it.

I could make a snide remark about the PS3 only being capable of looking good and failing to deliver compelling gameplay, hence the priorities, but I won't. Can we please get some gameplay details/footage/hands on before we start declaring games as must own titles for a system?

Please?

Wasn't there a gameplay trailer at E3 2006 or TGS 2006? The vid looks typically JRPG to me though.

Prof. Pew- we got version as a file in our inbox - thanks for linking, it's worth viewing IMO. Beautiful.

RJG - fair enough, but the trailers-turned-gameplay paid off fine for MGS4. I'm willing to bet it will for this game, too.
Also, 'must have' is really subjective. In this blogger's mind, this is already a 'must have'. Definitely not stating it as fact.

vigor - I hope so. I really hope so.

Saw last year' TGS trailers, Gundam meets typical boring JRPG = no interest. I don't see why people are making such a big deal about it.

@RJG: There's already some gameplay vids, although since it is in Japanese I could never be sure. I mean it does show the in-game menus and such, so it probably is a gameplay vid. With graphics like these, its hard to tell which part is the actual game and which are just in-game cinematics

Very Escaflowne looking. Shame there's absolutely nothing else on the system that's managed to vaguely interest me yet.

wow, I got goose bumps from that video...

While as awsome that video was I do agree I hope we get to see ingame footage + battle strategy at work. I am a tad tired of the over-milked FF franchise so a game like this could be the remedy.

-> bluemeep: Exactly what I was thinking. Could they just not get the licence?

That vid underdog linked to was actually far more impressive to me. Rather than just the same generic FMV that could be from pretty much any crpg from the past decade, the actual gameplay and combat looks pretty damn promising. Not enough to make me want a ps3 yet though, not by a long shot.

Looked pretty damn awesome, but we need gameplay footage to form a real opinon.

I already saw the gameplay footage-ish (the one everyone is linking I think), and the game is just kick-you-in-the-nuts awsome. The was it blended between battle and exploring was magnificent. This was the first game, about a year ago or so, that told me "You know Rick, a PS3 will be in your future afterall". I believe this will do well for something without "Final Fantasy" in the title.

Glorious-looking combat system, plus giant monster battles? Yes, please. And the trailer is all manner of pretty. WANT!

I agree with Altair78.

Level 5 has always put out rock-solid RPGs ever since Dark Cloud 2. I'm excited for this one.

God damn... That trailer got my interest. Love the bass-line in that song!

Looks pretty tight. I'll be keeping my eye on this game from now on.
