New videos show SMT: Strange Journey in action photo

Strange Journey doesn't look that strange now that I've had the chance to lay eyes on it. Atlus continues their slow reveal of their next full Shin Megami Tensei game in several video clips. True to their style, don't expect these clips to show you very much. It'll be just enough to tempt you.

The first video after the jump lays out the story. You'll see specialized vechicles speeding through the snow in Antarctica. In these vehicles are a special team comprised of members from different nations. Their goal is to explore a wasteland that appears there.

A couple of other videos show a bit of the first-person dungeon exploration in Strange Journey. They both cut off right before the action stops, but it's pretty clear that the battles also follow the first person view. The last video? It's not much. It just shows the naming of the main character -- they pick "Atlus Hero."

Hey, Atlus USA: I'm lookin' at you.

"Atlus Hero" is kind of campy like that. I might name him that. Or just Butt Face.

I'm a Shin Megami fan, but they still haven't grabbed my attention with this one. I don't know what it is.

From the picture I thought it would be a new Deadspace outfit for the 360 avatar.

Oh, I was kind of expecting a fully 3d exploration kind of game, not a first person dungeon crawler.

I think I'll stick with my Persona, personally.

But these SMT games are pretty much stand-alone aren't they?

I'm debating whether to be intrigued or not. On one hand, it's an SMT game. On the other. . . something about the gameplay just doesn't really intrigue me much. . .

@TheNomadicTroll I thought that exact same thing.

i havent been pleased at all with the megaten series of late (i used to be a big fan) - i'm cautiously optimistic about this so far. looks like a nice hearkening back to older gameplay/visual style, and i have yet to hear one jpop song, which is a *very* good thing :P
