OK, these new WWE Legends of Wrestlemania videos are great. After the jump, there's some footage of the game's Create-a-Legend mode, which looks nearly identical to what we've seen in the Smackdown vs. Raw games.
But the video above? Oh man, the video above has really tickled whatever bone it is that makes me want to play this game. (Not that bone, you weirdo.) It shows off some of the game's managers -- Bobby Heenan, Paul Bearer, "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart -- and it's bringing back a ton of memories. Paul Bearer even has the iconic urn, which he seemingly is using to give a "classic" Undertaker back his "powers."
I played the game for about 15 minutes at NY Comic Con, where THQ was showing it off to the public. Despite it being billed as an arcade-style wrestling game, it was actually more confusing to play than Smackdown vs. Raw 2009. The controls seem completely overhauled, with a series of crazy quicktime button presses that left me unsure what was going on.
But I'm going to give the game another chance, because Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart at Wrestlemania X simply must be relived in my living room.
Legends of Wrestlemania is set to ship for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this March.
I agree!
This game looks cool, but we all know looks can be deceiving when it comes to wrestling games.
Seeing Heenan and Mr. Fuji brought me way back! Memories...
Let's just hope this controls well...
I meant, let's all pray!
Bring back Aki/Asmik. Dammit!
The memories!....wrestling before it sucked. Steve Austin BEFORE he was "Stone Cold". The original Undertaker before the "Kane" family nonsense. Lex Luger versus Yokozuna to the death!
I loved as much I hated in that video. I loved seeing all of the old faces. I loved that the WrestleMania III arena had Andre the Giant coming out on the cart that was a mini ring, just like at the actual event. But the ai just looks terrible. When you attack someone's manager, they don't just stand there and let you do it. They go beat the hell out of you. When Brutus yanked The Mouth into the ring and Honky Tonk Man just watched it all happen, that's just lame. That would pull me out of the game immediately.
I did love the animations. I love the various manager interference concepts. They're definitely a welcome addition to wrestling games in general.
BUt if Jimmy Hart is screaming through a microphone, and I can't hear him, yeat I can the ref counting a ring-out, that's just bad.
@norm9 - Fire Pro is better, just wish they had a PSP version.
I could be convinced to drop some $$ for this if the match types are more varied[barb wire, scaffold matches, please?] and the create-a-wrestler feature has enough depth to do my creations justice. I'm playing SVR2008 and it limits the number of layers I can have on my chars - Not cool.
@The Fire Pro People
I've looked into the game... Although have never played it. Is it really that cool?! Worth buying?
I long for the No Mercy days of wrestling games...

Also, I just bought Smackdown 09 a while ago. This shit is worse than Madden.

And seeing that the animations are still janky and it seems like there's an emphasis on qte, this is looking less and less like a must buy for me.
terrible.
And what the FUCK at how big they made Hogan. He just looks stupid.
