Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Unlike the last trailer that actually showed gameplay and (gallons of blood), the newest trailer for Soldier of Fortune: Payback is just a CG trailer meant to build up the hype for the game. I know a lot of you can't stand these kind of trailers but Activision did at least send over some super shiny screenshots for you to ADHD at.

The Soldier of Fortune: Payback Web site launched today as well. The site, MercenariesWanted.com, contains more videos, screenshots, and gives more detail on the gameplay. My favorite part of the site though has to be the weapons page. 17 of the games weapons are on display with stats and sound effects for each gun too.

Soldier of Fortune: Payback will be out sometime in November for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC.

Why did we not even hear about this until a month before it comes out? Oh that's right, because no one cares.

Yeah SoF2's multiplayer was amazing. Considering this isn't being made by Raven Software I can't say I'm expecting anything good..

This all looks so "real world". Nobody remembers the first Soldier of Fortune? The one where you take on Neo-Nazi's holding a subway full of civilians hostage? Where you traipse through Where the final boss is a ninja/cyborg that you fight with a microwave pulse gun? Where you come face to face with Saddam Hussein who proceeds to run away from you?

Guys. C'mon. You know what we want.

I'm on the fence... depending on where it averages with scores, I might give it a go.

Being a fan of ridiculous over the top video game violence, I was a fan of the first SoF. I dubbed the SMG Jig (when you unload a clip on an enemy with the smg, they look like they're doing a walk-like-an-egyptianesque dance). With that said, this one looks awful. Not the graphics, just the exaggerated limb loss. I really don't think a bullet from an uzi can make someone's head explode, or sever a leg from the hip. It should be strictly shotguns, explosions and large bore weapons that can do stuff like that, otherwise it just comes off as stupid.

[grandma]*whew* what would we do without a new killing simulator on the market for the holiday season to corrupt our children oh no. how else are we gonna indoctrinate our offspring in the art of brutal military takeovers [/grandma][/url] haha this looks pretty sic!!!!ahahah WHOOSH! BANG!! The texturing looks so real they've really done a good job there. The lighting doesn't really look that dynamic in some of those screenshots but hey if you're in the desert theres not much color right?!

Yep, no better way to survive in a warzone than running through the middle of the street shooting at everyone else, who are also in the middle of the street. You'd think they'd try to make a military shooter more realistic, especially if they're going to all this trouble for the gore.

I don't know about this one...

After just recently finishing Bioshock and The Orange Box, I kinda feel like the "lone army marine that stands in the middle of the road and shoots every random foreigner he sees" angle is kinda taking a huge step backwards...

Maybe it'll be mindless fun, ya, but from what I remember, SoF2 had a decent plot that involved politics and whatnot... This one just kinda seems more about being angry, shooting at things because you're angry, and probably spouting off lines like "looks like he lost his head" every time you blow someone's skull off.

Just not my kind of game I guess...
