Open wide thine eyes, dear readers, and gaze upon the brilliantly crafted chaos that serves as the perfect example of what an XNA game can be. What you're seeing is the latest trailer for The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai; the title I've been ranting to you about for months now.
If you missed the first video, go watch it now and come back. While it doesn't feature quite as much gameplay, this new one shows off some of the exciting co-op action you'll get to partake in, as well as some footage of a minigame that has you shredding on a guitar as you match button commands on the screen -- a feature we'd never seen before now.
The game was created by a talented young man named James Silva, and is one of the winners of Microsoft's Dream-Build-Play contest for indie XNA developers. Still no word on a release date, but the visuals in this new trailer look a bit more polished than the last one we saw, which means it's that much closer to hitting XBLA and that much closer to ushering in another Best Week Ever.
Why do I have such a boner for this game, you ask? Is it all the blood and gore, all the violence? No. Blood's cool, but that's not it. I'm excited for The Dishwasher because it represents something different on the XBLA horizon. I, for one, have had enough of the standard XNA fare with its miniature graphics, thrown-together "pew pew pew" gameplay, and disgusting overuse of the same red/green/blue/purple color palate. This game is stylish, it's fast-paced, and it looks challenging and incredibly fun to play. It shows developers out there that a little creativity with XNA can go a long way.
Holy shit they made a Zombie Smashers X3. I own Zombie Smashers X2, I must check this new one out. Also knowing who's making this, I know want this game more than anything else on the 360.
It's not so confusing. A dishwasher spins like mad and sprays water everywhere. The dead samurai spins like mad and sprays blood everywhere. That's what I figured it came from, anyway.
Looks good. Now I know what my leftover ms points from castle crashers are going towards. Unless they release it for free like aegis wing, which would upgrade the game from good to awesome.
This is from the same guy that basiclly single handedly runs Totally Screwed Software, and made that amazing game Zombie Smashers X, i cannot tell you how many hours i played that game with my friend. I really am loving how all this 2d sidescrollers stuff is coming back, not only is it awesome nostaligia but the games kick ass. Also, cannot fuckin wait for castle crashers, that game is gonna be fuckin awesome!
