i was excited for the game until they showed the actual gameplay. i'm all for interesting storytelling and stuff happening on screen to make the game more interesting in arcade racers like NFS(no more "homeboys in tuned cars", please), but on all of those gameplay vids and in previews it seemed like most of the time you're not even playing the game - it's either QTE scene or cutscene. and the fact that they're doing it in the middle of the race is a GIANT no-no for me.
i just saw gameplay preview of Battlefield 3 made by The Cynical Brit - wow, just wow, on-rail shooters give you more freedom than BF3's singleplayer.

You know why I'm going to buy it, because the tracks are not so static, or hell maybe the avalnche level is the only non totaly static map with nothing really happening durring gameplay but, it's still cool. My woman absolutely loves it, which is rare because since she avoids using breaks she sucks out loud, and I can totaly agree wither her sucking skills... Afterall she did turn my wang purple once. Anyway, I think it is awesome, and QTE's in races actually sounds cool to me.
As for BF3 being basically a point to point shooter, both the bad companies kinda were too, and so was alot of CoD, but what really counts in those games is the multi, the single is really just to get you adjusted to the game and tell you a sexy lil story.

I love some NFS games, but the story based ones have been huge duds, even with their fancy trailers.

The music was awful,but I liked the demo,the Avalanche track was awesome. I also like the amount of classic American cars in the trailer.

After the stunt EA pulled against turn10 I don't see myself getting excited by EA games anytime soon... It's just one reason for this game to be underwhelming for me...
I have yet to play Hot Pursuit, which I really want to try. I havent played a Realistic Arcade Racer since Midnight Club:LA, but Hot Pursuit and this are tempting me, as well as Forza 4.
But, ill probably buy Mario Kart 7 and forget all about it...:(

It seems to have a cool atmosphere, but I bet it almost definitely doesn't deliver what it is promising here.
@Sofik - There's a demo out. It plays just like any other realistic arcade racer. Some tracks don't even have QTEs.
I dig that there's a story to it--I miss the short-lived series Drive which had the same concept. And speaking from personal experience, the attention to detail is incredible, especially in the Chicago footage--where they have him drive is exactly what it looks like, right down to the Metra tracks where the crash happens. Only I think they have a deisel engine coming at him--those are the Metra Electric tracks--the diesels run into the city about 10 blocks over.
Looks really awesome! Definitely getting this at some point or another but doubtfully at launch. Too. Many. Games!!
