After a few weeks of teasing, Crystal Dynamic's new Tomb Raider title has been revealed. Simply called Tomb Raider (that's how we do series reboots these days), the details of the game will be revealed in the next issue of Game Informer.
As rumored, the title will follow a young Lara Croft who finds herself washed up on a mysterious island when a storm destroys a boat she was traveling on. As the only survivor, Lara is put to the test as she fights for survival.
"Forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider," said Crystal Dyanmics studio head Darrell Gallagher, "This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."
Judging from Game Informer's cover, Lara is definitely getting a bit of a make over from the neck up. We'll learn and see more this month, as the latest issue of Game Informer is headed to subscribers now. Stay tuned.

I hope this new game really does the series the justice it deserves. They should take a few cues from Uncharted really. The last few games including starring Lara have been a little dry. For me anyways.
But yes I do look forward to this reboot.
So you still haven't had a chance to play Uncharted yet. That's a shame.
You're such a turd burglar.
If TR dumbs down the puzzles, then basically turns into a 3rd person cover-based shooter with climbing, I will be very disappointed.
Seriously though, I enjoy playing Tomb Raider games, so I will enjoy this as well.
"i don't want TR series to go down as casual shooter like Uncharted so it would appeal to Assassins Creed and Call of Duty fans. Tomb Raider games always were above this BS"
If your delusions were tangible things we could stack them to the moon.
Pre-ordered!
Done.
To be honest, I'm really interested in this. While I'm disappointed that Underworld isn't getting a continuation and we're getting this instead, Crystal Dynamics does know how to make a good Tomb Raider game. It's also about time Lara stepped out from being a cartoonish-looking character to something more realistic looking.
And to be honest, it would have been jarring to go from the style of Underworld to this anyway, especially given the fact they're probably updating the game engine to something more current. The engine used in the last three core Tomb Raider games was beginning to show its age with Underworld, so hopefully the reboot comes with a new engine.
As long as they keep it more about the platforming and less about the shooting, like they have so far, I'll be happy. And given the fact she's washed up on an island instead of assaulting a military encampment to steal some artifact, I think it's safe to say it's going to be about the platforming.
Okay.
...because now you're just using the name to sell us another generic 3PS?
Lara Croft used to be about big tits, two pistols at the same time and pretty decent puzzles. if that's not what this game is going to be about then why bother at all?
i dont know how to care less about a franchise in anything ever
And if they're going to make a completely different game, why not name it something else? Oh, wait. Audience Awareness.
Apparently these guys at Crystal dynamics don't know what they're doing.
Giving Lara realistic and less cartoonish body, making this game more action oriented (I can't be sure here, but come on) and less colorful IS NOT THE WAY TO GO.
If Uncharted is what they are going for - Uncharted is not a good game! I love Naughty Dog and Uncharted looks stunning, I loved that it was QTE-free and how they pulled that off, but in terms of gameplay it was bland cover based shooter.
A proper Tomb Rider game needs:
1. More interesting puzzles;
2. More exploration;
3. And acrobatics.
I hope CD realize that.

since she's more young and hopefully aggressive in the game ^^
I think she's edgy enough now to start showing some side boob. Or get naked in the middle of a gunfight. I think that's a pretty good tactic.
I hated the fact that Lara really, really didn't fit into her setting, and this seems to have kept it more visually inline with the rest of the game.
And honestly, if it IS copying Uncharted... I wouldn't say that's too much of a bad thing.
Doubt it... Tomb Raider: Legend already did the origin story thing. I can't see them shoehorning in a shipwreck on a mysterious island within months of a plane crash in the mountains. Had that happened, the poor bird would have stayed buttoned up in her home, afraid of anything which transported people.
And wow at people hating on uncharted haha.
