Electronic Arts have issued some new screenshots from the forthcoming The Sims 3, and in case there was any question about it, these images confirm that you'll still be able to do "stuff" in this sequel.

There's painting on your deck for instance. Or sitting in a camouflage-themed room wearing your matching camo outfit, taking about love with your camo-wearing girlfriend. Or pulling a gigantic trout out of a small puddle of water outside of City Hall. Er, OK, I'll be honest -- I don't know what the hell is going on here in these screens. The Sims lead a complicated life of leisure, one that I will never truly understand.

But I sure am glad that you can do "stuff," in The Sims 3. And it's good to know that your Sims can range from some chick from The Hills to the keyboardist from The Killers, or an angry bully child to Barack Obama. Variety is the key here, clearly.

The Sims 3 ships for the PC in 2009.

What the Sim's series really needs is some crazy new innovations like your family suddenly finding that they have super powers and then you could steer them towards world domination, or if you're a pussy, to protect the innocent.
Less ordinary more extraordinary please EA.

Went to an electronics store today, and there was a whole column of shelves dedicated to the Sims.

I felt bad.

The thing the really irks me about the Sims is the ridiculous number of expansions. A simple update would suffice. Nobody wants the mess of system registry and install directories.

My girldfriend bought the huge sim collection thing with all the expansions and it took like 4 hours to install and it was like 20 gigs or some shit.

This is a game that could make MILLIONS on DLC!!!

Stupid dam game... No doubt I'll still end up buying the base install and first expansion for it, and then no doubt get bored of after a week, put away and dig out again in a few years, play till I have neighbourhoods full to bursting and 100th generation families... And then wonder why I haven't seen any Meat Space friends for a few weeks... I hate these games, but love them at the same time... Be right back, need to re-install Sims 2 now...

Will it be less boring than The Sims 2? Oh wait, no? Never mind then.

I am a huge fan of the sims, however, I am thinking that it may not be all that different than the sims 2. The only BIG difference seems to be the ability to follow the sims around more without having those "wait" screens. It's quite possibly a money making thing by EA. A lot similar to the way they do the expansion packs to keep the money rolling. I am sure that we will have a lot of expansion packs for the sims 3 as well. So... I guess I'd better get my pocket book ready because I am a sucker for the sims.
