Tenchu 4's website has been updated, giving us a new trailer, which details many of the game's moves, features, and more. So, let's get into what the video's saying, shall we?

First off, they talk about the controls. "The Wii controls will be simple so that just about anyone can use the ninja moves." You can quickly dodge from shadowy area to shadowy area by flicking the remote back and forth. The game's controls will allow you to simply attack enemies, and when the screen suddenly pulsates, you can press the command on screen and perform a stylistic kill on the enemy.

What I love is the long sequence where they show just about every way you can kill someone. This will include pulling people into the bushes, inviting them into a little cabinet and killing them in there, using a fishing pole, knock them into a torch and set them aflame, and much much more.

And then there's the moves to help you out, like thrashing a cat about in order to have it fetch a key for you, knock out torches to hide in the fire, and more. They also have a quick portion showing off Red Steel-esque controls for when you enter into special swordfights.

So, what do you guys think of the game? As soon as I hear "make the controls simple," I have a knee-jerk reaction to worry about it. But thinking about it, since the Wii controls aren't as accurate as they need to be, simplifying it is the best way to make the game playable and not a mess when you try to do overly-complicated moves. Hopefully the game can still provide a challenge.

Well, we'll see what the reviews say when the game comes out on October 23rd.

I played the third Tenchu back in the day and it had one of the most hilariously nonsensical stories I've ever encountered in a videogame

It looks like a step in the right direction to making the tenchu series noticeable again. I really hope that they give us a version for the 360 or PS3 with improved lighting.

The game looks good even though theres no lighting really, but I would much rather have awsome lighting than the character turning black.

Ugh, looks like MGS with Ninjas. The lack of blood geysers is disappointing.

Raiden, no it doesn't. That's why I'm posting it. I tell you what it says, more or less.

A PS2 game? Srsly? It's not the PS360, but it's a good looking Wii title. I'm actually kind of surprised that I have have any interest in a tenchu game. The demo for the last one wasn't exactly straightening my katana. Oh well, fourth time's the charm, I guess.

Hope they make a 360 version and with the ability to create your own character ,at least online, like Tenchu Z (still play it when I'm in a ninja mood)

lol, death by fishing rod. :) I would definitely check out a 360 version, seeing as I enjoyed the old one for PSone.

Looks exactly like all the PS2 tenchus(which isn't a bad thing).

Well at least its something to play on my Wii.

You can literally turn into a shadow? Sweet. :O)

Those deaths look a lot more stealthy. This better not turn out like Tenchu Z.

i guess i'm the only one that thinks this is the perfect breath of fresh air the Tenchu series needs to bring back interest in it.

it was growing stale, and this seems to be going back to the awesomeness of Tenchu 2 while pumping life into it with simplified controls and more than 7 kills.

for me and my wii, this is a certain DO WANT

From the gameplay it doesn't look like they've really made many changes to the engine. It looks like it controls much the same as its predecessors (clunkily by today's standards) and the biggest changes are slowmo deaths and motion controls.

I'm really hoping for one of my favourite series from my Playstation days to see a complete revamp and to take a few notes from the way Assassin's Creed handled.

The Tenchu series has been *utterly terrible* since the second PS2 game. Tried the demo for the latest one on the 360 and pretty much wrote off the series. This goes a long way to restoring my faith in it, even if the sword fighting looks a bit dodgy.

I was getting ready to insult the graphic quality and then saw the Wiimote whipping around on the screen! THAT DOES NOT EXCUSE IT, but not I just feel like I'm stating the obvious rather than offering scathing criticism. Man. Fuck the Wii.

Ooooh did you see that! Up the skirt action...when she was like...crawling...n'stuff. Totally wouldn't expect that from a Japanese game.

Some of the takedown moves looked cool but that loud "swish" sound every time a character rolls has got to go.

They have some good ideas and the potential to do what Manhunt did much better and without the controversy. I miss the blood geysers and beheading.

I was becoming interested, until I saw the waggle in the inset. Then I loled.

Wow. I loved the first Tenchu, liked the second, and thought the PS2 ones were only so-so. I played the demo for the 360 one, and really didn't care for it. So it's good that this one seems to bring excitement back to the series. It does look like it moves the same as it has since Tenchu 1, but all of the new context senstive stealth kills, and the ABILITY TO CONTROL A KITTY make it a must have. I will be a ninja on my Wii.

Somewhere the direction of this series really lost me. And this pretty much confirms my fears that it will never return to its greatness. God damn, what happened?

I'm glad I watched this vid. Its a more positive move by the creators to restore the series to its former glory. And god damn, how the world in peril need the services of a decent shinobi clan.

The Wii controls look really well thought out. I'd expect this to be a hit on Wii and a more inventive game than Ninja Gaiden 2.
