The more I see of NSMB2, the less cynical I am, and the more excited I am; taking these sequels as iterations in a "spin-off" series as opposed to "core titles" in the mario series, as some have suggested, makes it much easier to see a game that doesn't necessarily innovate or take many chances, but does indeed provide some fuckin' good times 2D platforming.
