This game is going to sell well, and is going to be one of the highest selling games on the Wii U. I personally might get it, but only after I get Rayman Legends. And Pikmin 3. And the Wonderful 101. And Bayonetta 2 (whenever that comes out).
Take away the 0 from the 30 brah. Yeah crazy when you really think about it, prior to 3DS title there was only 2 of them, but the internet blows everything up and we get into our heads that there was a dozen of em'.
And yeah the game does look pretty good, honestly speaking the New series was "HD", everything is rounded and clean, like the galaxy series and anything else that turns HD. The entire trailer was pleasing to the eyes, and the level design does look a bit more creative and the new modes sound like fun. Was skeptical at first, but now I'm actually excited for this.

It definitely isn't doing anything super special, but if it is as fun as all the other New Super Mario Bros. games and it looks like it will be I am fucking sold.

I love this series but I think that Nintendo should have waited a couple of years to release the 3DS version. I'll be picking this up when I do get a Wii U sometime around launch.
Well, it's looking better than the trite and banal looking 3DS version, but still not something I'm ejaculating over.
That said, I hope stealth is right about not needing boost mode for collectibles. If I can't 100 percent a game without begging someone to help me, that's an instant deal breaker.

I've rewatched the new trailer, 3 times
There is not 1 spot you couldnt get too by either
A) flying via squirell suit
B) wall jump
C) Other in stage platform
there is no need to make blocks

This makes it look a little more new than the last couple. The block placing does seem like it could be abused, though.
Right, but they are definitely making levels with those blocks in mind. It's possible there could be levels not shown in the trailer that do require them, though that doesn't really seem like something Nintendo would do. Either way, there's more of an emphasis than I was expecting.
The musi is not annoyin anymore!!! Yay! And the enviroments look as though they have much much more personality. I hope to god you can keep the yoshi's for good like world did. I also like the new twist to the mini mushroom with the wall climbing, also like world.

Stealth is right, I don't think Nintendo would make a core Mario game require a second player in order to achieve 100%. This looks a lot like the Rayman Legends 5th player mechanic, actually.

I agree, I don't think nintendo would pull that here, but it is still a trend that I would like to end immediately. I have absolutely no problem with games having the option, on the rare occassion I could convince my friends to play the tingle tuner, or the second wii remote in Mario Galaxy, I had a blast, but in the end I want a game that I can play by myself if needed.

1) The second world, the desert desert guess, appears to be leaning to the right. Sort of like donut plains. Which leads me to believe the entire world map is circular

Nintendo is definitely treading water with these 2D Mario games. Of course their main objective was to get a Mario title out by launch. I'm hoping for more innovation in future titles or at least to pick up on the progression from Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.

The Game Informer article on this made it sound like it addresses a lot of my issues with previous installments, and having a Mario World-style world map again is awesome. And HD!!!!!
Of course, even if it's exactly the same as all the others, I'll still play the shit out of it. NSMB 2 is Nintendo phoning it in and doing a straight-up expansion pack, and I'm still loving the hell out of it. I do hope they bring back the backflip, though.

This game looks incredible. Visually speaking, it's lightyears better than any NSMB that's come before. The new music is catchy, the interconnected overworld is going to be awesome, and the new challenge mode could potentially add a ton of replay value. It won't innovate the genre, necessarily, but there's certainly a lot more creativity at play here than in NSMB2.

I thought the Wii NSMB was great, but I didn't need to play any more in the series so long as it barely evolved. Like where I'm at with Assassin's Creed 2 - loved it, but no interest in any of the instalments since.
That said, and maybe it's just because of the pretty colourful HD visuals and the fact that it's basically Nintendo's main launch title, I'm tempted by this one. Trailer looks good.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 was more of the same... And I loved it! Pure Nintendo platforming perfection.

Its nice they're actually putting a new aesthetic design for this one, instead of the same designs we've seen in other entries to the series. While I understand that you don't have to use the blocks, I still don't like that they're there. I know Nintendo adds features like this to help ease in newcomers and beginner gamers, but there is a difference between throwing newbies a bone, and tossing them an "auto-win" feature.
