New Street Fighter IV character revealed photo

Thanks to Famitsu, we can now clap eyes on another brand new Street Fighter IV character. This guy is a Lucha Libre wrestler known as El Fuerte. That's about all we know for now, but enjoy the picture. He looks pretty cool, certainly not as generic as the last new guy that had been revealed. Reminds me of Rey Mysterio, like all Luchadores. Because of the mask, not because of Mexican racism.

As cool as he looks though, there's a certain fellow with a mask who I am impatiently tapping my foot for. More Vega up in the Street Fighter hizzle, please. I ... do not have a hizzle. Or a shizzle.

It seems that all fighters these days need a Mexican wrestler character.

Fuckers... This takes place in the timeline between SF2 and SF3 correct? Then where the hell is the love for some SF3 characters. Younger versions please.

Damn, I was gonna make the Rey Mysterio ref, but it's been taken already, by the article itself no less. Then I was gonna mention Vega, and that got taken too. So... I got nothing.

that mask is pretty lame. It seems like putting a mask on a dude is the easy way out.

If you had a to draw a picture and you got to the face, and you couldnt draw very well, what would you do??

its simple. make his face into a mask.

problem solved

..

(I draw like shit)

That's not a luchadore. Luchadores have COOL masks, and don't look a fraction as generic as this dude does.

So they're just combining character now? This guy looks like Vega + Balrog. Hopefully he plays differently than the other characters.

He kind of looks like a mime instead of a luchadore.

as pumped as i am about this game, i've yet to be impressed by any of the new characters. Viper is a KOF knock-off, the other guy (Axel, Abel, ???) looks boring and do we really need another wrestler in SF? every one of these new characters make me less interested in the game.

So now we need Yoshimitsu. And a guy that fights with a guitar.

And jigglypuff.

@Up2NoGood

Wasnt Bison supposed to have die at the end of SF2. So thats where he is.

The luchadore looks silly...best looking one so far is El Blaze from VF5...but I'm sure that he's gonna be polished up design wise much like Viper was.

@foxhound421
Viper is like a mix of Geese Howard and Mai Shiranui move wise and all. Abel has a Flying front kick much the same as Terry Bogard. The similarities of these new characters are all over the place.

I agree with Hitogoroshi, a lucha just doesn't fit in the with the whole street fighter vibe.

Dear capcom,if you are gonna friggin put a wrestler in SF4,put in Friggin Mike Haggar from final fight, the new characters are ass...Viper:the scary lesbo corrections officer,Abel:the Eurotrash jogger from hell and this guy who looks like a shaolin monk who put on some lady's underwear on his head.

It seems to me like they're trying to bring SF back to it's more realistic (?) roots... No more unusual characters like Twelve or Necro.

I think that's kind of a shame, because I liked weird characters in my Street Fighter.

Personally, I'm really digging Viper and now El Fuerte. Hopefully they'll mix in some characters from SFIII and other Capcom fighters in the same universe. A little more variety is definitely needed.

They should put in R. Mika just to have an all wrestling league going on! Yeah!

Then again looking at how all the characters are getting bulked up.R. Mika would probably be quite massive.

I want to see the guy in motion before I judge how he looks btw.

man... this is a GREAT step above T.HAWK for SURE... (you know, the native American Tex mex guy that was apparently from Mexico) - but I am getting annoyed by the luchador names...

why are they always simple translation of boring words... el fuerte (the strong)? really? that's NO luchador name... that's kind of lame... plus, I'd rather him be a flyer than a muscle man... he doesn't even seem stronger than Zangief...

wait...

what does ZANGIEF MEAN???!!! (anyone, anyone?)

Come on Capcom, I hope you can do better than this. These lucha fighters have been invading fighting games for a while now (do we really need more wrestlers in the game. Why not a Savate fighter instead?

Where the hell is Gecko?

In no way should they consider other capcom characters other than SF fighters that would just be a copout.

It feels like they're going back to SF2, making it 2.5D and they might as well call it "Street Fighter 2: More New Challengers".
They need to bring back the PARRYING system from SF:III 3rd strike. No matter what, parrying always makes games better.

What? Capcom, you already have a lucha-libre character, and one who is far hotter--R. Mika. Give her a less indignant uniform as well as a better moveset, and you're set. Plus, it'd be less of a sausage-fest....

I gotta say that overall I'm really unimpressed by SFIV so far. It's gotta have the worst character design/art out of any of the official SF games (at least SFIII had Makoto and Ibuki), and the overpowered Ultras look very unbalanced.

well they are evolving from a group of racial stereotypes and generic karate men. what makes street fighter characters is their moves.

La Mariposa in DOA4 was a ripoff of Rey Mysterio? Seeing as there isn't too many FEMALE luchadores out there, she more original than this guy is.

In order for this character to be original he has to have a completely different move set from other Lucha Libre characters. At least in SF you have unusual fighting moves (Hadoken, Spinning Lariat) than in realistic fighting games (VF, DOA). So far though, I am not convinced.

Doesn't look or feel street fighter at all. Plus he looks no different that El Blaze or whatever his name is in Virtua Fighter 5. All the new fighter game related wrestling characters look too much alike lol.

seriously guys?

you're comparing him to rey mysterio and el blaze?

Luchadores wear masks, and they fight. All of them do. Then again, when i first played as ELIZA i spat on my television and asked
"Why did they get their EDDY GORDO in my Street Fighter?"
