Zasalamel! Say it out loud. I don't care if you're in your cubicle or reading this from your local Starbucks, I want you to shout "Zasalamel." Isn't that fun? See, you shouldn't listen to me more often.

Having kind of slept through Soulcalibur III, I had nearly forgot about this guy. But now that Namco Bandai have released a fresh new set of screenshots with old baldy in them, my memory has been refreshed. I wonder how I could ever forget him and his fancy little scythe, the Kafziel. Also fun to say, by the way.

Along with Amy and Cervantes (also seen in these screenshots), Zasalamel will make his triumphant return when Soulcaibur IV ships for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Summer.

I can't wait to humiliate people online in this game. Everybody must feel Cervantes blade.

Damn. The graphics are looking sick.

Is Amy new? I don't remember her but I didn't play a lot of SC3.

I'll continue to stick with the Dreamcast original. This series is just getting too flamboyant and flashy. SC3 had already gotten to the point where the battles were 90% lightning and explosions, and I could barely make out what the fuck was happening. SC1 had this certain balance between the elegant fighting of Bushido Blade, without being intimidating to a casual player.

Also, what's with all the lip gloss on all the women?

Yeah, uh, I've only played SCII, but I'm pretty sure Zasalamel wasn't in it. Is he only from the original?

GA, she was one of the stock create-a-character based fighters in SC3. In Japan, she was a fully realized character in SC3.

Oh ok. I was wondering because she didn't look familiar at all (and a little out of place). Thanks.

When did it become standard for fighting games to have not so quite loli goths? Hell, why should I be complaining in the first place? Thumbs up!

My love for Soul Calibur died with SCIII, when it stopped being about perfecting the swordplay, but the graphics/tits/badassery instead. Yes there's always been Lizardman, but still. It's all Tacky McSpencersGifts now.

I can't stop looking at Amy's hair, it's hypnotically weird.

I'm really looking forward to this game, though not getting owned by people playing Cervantes. I really hope it has Edge Master Mode or Missions Mode or whatever they decide to call it this time. It's nice to take a break from vs. battles to try and do some really weird ones ("you can only do damage to enemies when they're in the air" was a bitch).

Cervantes looks way different. He doesn't look as much like a pirate ghost anymore. Now he looks more like a Night Elf from WOW wearing a pirate hat. I liked him better before.
freeman1's Avatar
freeman1 at 03/28/2008 16:55
Actually, I take that back. It doesn't even look like a pirate hat. It's just some weird hat with an eye on it.

And Amy looks like a blow up doll. I always thought Amy was weird. When you picked her she would say "Amy". The way she said it was weird. It used to creep me right the fuck out.

Yay....Namco keeps up with the constant revives fo characters that either should or are dead. First Tekken, now it's still going strong in Soul Calibur.

Seriously I'll buy this game. but the fact Yoda/Vader make an appearance AND Big Z is back, I only hope the story is still strong and has an actual point.

and yes...I agree with Mozgus. The game's way too flashy compared to SCI. SCIII pretty much went overboard with the constant lighting and clash brightness. it was to the point you couldn't see crap after an attack. and PLEASE fix the parry system. It's still broken.

So which are in-game and which are CG???

It's pronounced ZA-salamel (at least, that's how the announcer says it).

I haven't played SCIII much, cuz I don't have scrubs to fight in my area. They're all "TEKKEN IS TEH BEST FIGHTING GAMEZORZ!!!" or something like that.

I disagree about the Guard Impacting though, I think it rocks. It opens up a lot more possibilities and mind games. Guard impacting only leaves the opponent defenseless for a short time, like what is said in SCIII, a match can go on endlessly if both fighters can keep guard impacting each other.

Any breaking news on the unholy jiggle physics of Taki's massive torpedo tits?

I can just see myself now, screaming at some expert Voldo player who just destroyed my ass in the weirdest way possible. Such as his pelvic thrust move. *shudder*
