[Update: Nintendo Power has a full feature on the game that confirms THREE episodic releases in the Shantae universe!]
Shantae is one of those games that you either remember with incredibly fond feelings and wish for a sequel for or have never heard of. Originally released on the Game Boy Color, the platformer sent you off to Sequin Land in the role of Shantae, a half-genie with the ability to use her hair as a whip. Take that, Bayonetta -- women have been fighting with their hair long before your time! Although, Shantae didn't end up naked because of it. Times have changed...
In a recent email from Nintendo detailing their upcoming releases (which also gave us a release date for Spirit Tracks), we found Shantae: Risky’s Revenge listed at the very bottom. Slated for Q4, all we really know for now its that it will be a DSiWare title. We've contacted WayForward for comment and ought to have more information for you shortly. Seven years of waiting has finally paid off! I can't wait!

I can't wait. WayForward is really helping DSiWare something to care about.
maybe I should track down this game and try it out.
I never knew about the first Shantae until a few months ago when someone made a C-Blog where Shantae was his number 1 forgotten mascot. I then proceeded to aquire a rom for myself to try it out(couldn't really find a good one though :(, much less one that I could use with a GBA emulator to make it GBA enhanced ).
Hopefully there will be a physical copy release of all three together or something...
I'm hoping that WayForward gets its head out of its ass and releases the full game on a cartridge, and allows its customers to actually OWN what they've paid for.
Also, aww I wanted a retail release, but, yay!
Why would you want, or even care that's its a retail release, or not? So it can fail just like the GBA one did in 2002, and than we won't get another one, for another 7 years. Plus everyone always says that DSiWare needs more good games. Well here you go, now we're getting three of them soon enough!
Could it be because Monodi (and the rest of the people who want Shantea 2) doesn't have a DSI and doesn't want to buy one for a single game (no matter how good it could be)?
Fine I'll go play it, you just give me the 150 US I need to buy a copy of ebay and I will.
Also, I have a cart only copy of Shantae I'd part with if anybody is interested.
