Quantcast

If you ask me, there just aren't enough games with scary-ass pregnant ladies. At least we have FEAR 3, which Warner Brothers and Day 1 Studios is showing off in this brand-new trailer.

While we may not see FEAR 3 until 2011 now, that hasn't stopped the team from continuing to reveal more about the game. The main focus of the trailer is "capturing the essence" of the franchise: great A.I., plenty of horror, and strong combat. Since Day One Studios (the team behind the MechAssault series) is now handling development, they're playing up their expertise in mech combat. If you've played the MechAssault games, you know they're not just blowing smoke.

Coupled with the great promise of FEAR 3's cooperative focus, I'm expecting this entry to push the series from being decent into being great. There's certainly a lack of high-quality horror games out there (I want Condemned 3 so hard), so I'm asking, nay, begging FEAR 3 to get it right. Please? For me?

At least the game has a damn fine look to it, which you can see in the screens below. Electricity is pretty!

Ah, I remember enjoying FEAR so much that I picked up the 360 port just to beat it all over again for some achieves. If there's one thing you can say about the series is that they do a pretty decent job with the single player. The multi can be fun, although I found it rather meh in the 2nd installment. Hopefully, they'll concentrate on making it more like the first game. I swear, there is nothing scarier than seeing a little girl run right past you and disappear around a corner or having her stand right next to you all of a sudden. ;_; I really want to like this game. Even if it has co-op it can still be scary... right?

I think I'm the one of the few that actually really enjoyed the second game and if they add a little variety to the game play and improve on what's already there I'm sure they'll be able to win over those that were turned off by the second. The mech sections are still some of my favorite action-y moments in recent game history. And third time's a charm, right? :)

How about you let me play as Alma for a scene and wreak havoc onto the world? Just throwing that idea out there. :)

Has the name changed to FEAR 3 in the past few weeks?

Have to agree with you Andrew. I'd much rather be playing condemned 3, just so long as it's less about Blade Runner futuristic underground island fortresses and more about dark and suffocating atmospheres where I'm afraid to turn the next corner. They forgot what horror was toward the end of game 2. Hope it's back to the basics for them.

As for Fear 3. I no longer consider it horror. It's only horror when the enemy you feel powerless. Instead, it's become camp with horror elements that don't horrify. I mean, hell, the games' prince of evil teams up with you, if the trailers are to be understood. Nevertheless, I'm about gameplay, and if it's solid then I'll bite.

Just focus on the single player. Fuck the multiplayer, series has never been about the multiplayer to begin with.

@Unit and Butter

No, the name has always been FEAR 3. F3AR was / is just a marketing method.
