New screens of Time Crisis: Razing Storm look familiar photo

Namco Bandai has released some new images of its upcoming shooter, Time Crisis: Razing Storm for PlayStation 3, and well... yeah. It looks like a Time Crisis game, am I right?

That's not necessarily a bad thing, if that's what you're into. Time Crisis: Razing Storm, by all accounts, looks like it'll continue the Time Crisis tradition of pointing at and shooting the hell out of everything that moves. It's a port of the 2009 arcade title, Razing Storm, and makes use of either the upcoming Move controller or the Namco Guncon 3.

At an event in NYC recently, I had a chance to watch someone play the game using Move. I didn't really feel compelled to grab the motion controller and and point at the screen to go "pew pew." In fact, I got the impression that the folks playing it were zoning out, simply going through the motions as they took down giant robots and enemy soldiers.

There's something about holding the gun peripheral that adds a whole new dimension to these type of games; I'm not sure playing with Move is the way to go. But who know, maybe in the future we will be taking down giant enemy robots with television remote control-style weapons.

Part of the fun is holding the gun in the arcade and feel the kick after each shot. How can a Move possible achieve that feel? The excitement? It's not immersing you into the game at all.

lightGUN people...the Wii has plenty of on rails shooters but none feel as solid as a game using a proper lightgun. This will be the same.

For a Time Crisis game it looks generic as hell. I liked the vibrant colours and psuedo-anime style of the older games. That's was part of their OTT charm. Honestly, if you hadn't said TC, I would have just assumed it to be something else.

This one is a time crisis game in mechanic only. The characters themselves aren't as endearing as the usual TC ones. On the plus side, this one was designed for multiplay on the same screen instead of split screen.

On a related note, I really preferred TC2 and TC3 on the ps2 to TC4 on the ps3. The old Guncon 2's felt so much better and were more accurate.. The only real question is, why did they never make a home guncon with force feedback? *sigh*

Isn't the star trek phaser basically a slightly oddshaped remote?

That said, I'm glad they are at least going to provide Guncon3 support...but I'm sure some handy third party hardware maker, niko, will come through with some sort of gun shell...and they can't be any worse than the official Wii gunshell provided by Nintendo. I wonder, did they even UAT that sucker? I mean, one second with it and I knew it was one of the worst shaped gun-like accessories ever. Bring on the slightly odd shaped remote controls...I'll welcome them after that.

This is a port of an Arcade game called "Razing Storm: Complete Destruction machine Gun game", which in the arcades had the rather hilarious tagline "Shoot like Crazy! Smash and Destroy". It has no relation to Time Crisis until now and plays more like a sequel to Crisis Zone.

'Am I right', possibly the most irritating three words you can find on a blog.

It doesn't look like any Time Crisis games I've seen. What's with the gun in the corner?
