Namco Bandai has released some new images of its upcoming shooter, Time Crisis: Razing Storm for PlayStation 3, and well... yeah. It looks like a Time Crisis game, am I right?
That's not necessarily a bad thing, if that's what you're into. Time Crisis: Razing Storm, by all accounts, looks like it'll continue the Time Crisis tradition of pointing at and shooting the hell out of everything that moves. It's a port of the 2009 arcade title, Razing Storm, and makes use of either the upcoming Move controller or the Namco Guncon 3.
At an event in NYC recently, I had a chance to watch someone play the game using Move. I didn't really feel compelled to grab the motion controller and and point at the screen to go "pew pew." In fact, I got the impression that the folks playing it were zoning out, simply going through the motions as they took down giant robots and enemy soldiers.
There's something about holding the gun peripheral that adds a whole new dimension to these type of games; I'm not sure playing with Move is the way to go. But who know, maybe in the future we will be taking down giant enemy robots with television remote control-style weapons.
On a related note, I really preferred TC2 and TC3 on the ps2 to TC4 on the ps3. The old Guncon 2's felt so much better and were more accurate.. The only real question is, why did they never make a home guncon with force feedback? *sigh*
That said, I'm glad they are at least going to provide Guncon3 support...but I'm sure some handy third party hardware maker, niko, will come through with some sort of gun shell...and they can't be any worse than the official Wii gunshell provided by Nintendo. I wonder, did they even UAT that sucker? I mean, one second with it and I knew it was one of the worst shaped gun-like accessories ever. Bring on the slightly odd shaped remote controls...I'll welcome them after that.
