I feel to see the what all the fuss is about. Why do people obsess over Last Guardian? Because it's different? That's the only reason I can see.

I never played Team Ico, or Shadow of the Colossus; but I heard nothing but great things about those games. I heard they were pretty epic! I plan on picking up the collection on PS3 when it comes out.
Basically those games were epic, and when you have a similar game but on a PS3; it is SUPAZ EPIC! (Super cool yo)

I logged in for the first time in 6 months just to say...HA HA HA. Very funny blurb Jim. Tickled my only funny bone. I too shall be building a pillow fort. :D
Planet, DO IT. The hd remakes should be cleaned up enough to make the game feel aesthetically comparable to today's games. The ps2 versions still take my breath away.
But maybe you have to allow yourself to have your breath taken away.
Either way, I'd recommend playing SotC first and Ico second. SotC is so much better and I feel you'll have more patience with ico. In the end, I've played them both so many times back and forth it didn't matter. And the storylines are ever so subtly connected that you'll have to have completed both before you can make any real parallels.
But maybe you have to allow yourself to have your breath taken away.

It resembles what I imagine didn't make it into Shadows of the Colossus (<3 that game) but they didn't want to let go.

It looks as bad (graphics-wise) as SotC and Ico looked in my big screen with progressive scan on (I know ICO had no progressive, but it certainly helped a little bit). And, just as those two games, I sure hope this one proves that you don't need graphics to be a good game, for the third time n_n
@Gaidenrider, I have to disagree with you; I think the graphics look very good! I'm pretty sure the screenshots that are linked to the article aren't the best quality.

Gaiden you're a tool. Look at all the animation that went into the collosii. They were huge and most of them were fairly unique from each other, I've just finished Kz3 and even the giant mech in that doesn't come close because it was basically a scripted sequence. The lland may have been quite devoid of features but each beast was a real piece of work. I loved demons souls too but even it's giant monsters didn't beat the colossi .

Were the Colossi an actual challenge to take down? Like did they get you thinking?
I LOVE the Resistance and Killzone series, but like you said; there so sequenced. I hate how those huge mechanical beasts in those 2 games are supposed to be, and should be, these powerful killing machines; yet one man can take them out with a few RPG shots :/

...what? It just looks like a griffin with its wings clipped. What is wrong with some of you people?

Oh yes! Each beast is basically a puzzle , you have to work out how to get on it, how to get to hue weak spot and kill it. There is a cool grip mechanism that means if you're not careful you can get flung off . This is fun when you've jumped on a giant dragon thing and it's flying through the air . Epic. Also the music is great, it's quite an emotional game . Younknow that bit in the never-ending story where the horse gets stuck in the mud? That x 100.

I think he's brilliant. He seems to be able to switch from cute to creepy at will.
And if he DOES die, I have a feeling we (the player) are going to be the one's that have to do it. God, I can' wait to cry my eyes out.

Eurogamer has a great preview of it describing the insanely lifelike keyframe animation they have used for it. Mocap just could not capture a mythical beast properly, plus it ALWAYS looks fake no matter how good it is. The keyframe approach allows everything to look as smooth as the smoothest Disney animation. Beautiful stuff. They have a new vid along with it and it really does look incredible.

Looking forward to this, but I have to say, these screens are a little underwhelming. I want to see some gameplay. The real beauty is going to be in the animations/interactions/atmosphere/sound design.... oh and gameplay too I guess.
For some reason, whenever I see anything related to The Last Guardian, my mind seems to jump to the movie Neverending Story... Probably just me though... Doesn't look as interesting as Shadow of the Colossus to me at this point still, but still has potential.
