New screens for Fallout 3 DLC features General with Kid n' Play hair photo

We're about two weeks and ten dollars away from the first bit of Fallout 3 downloadable content, "Operation: Anchorage."

If these three new screens look to you more like something out of Lost Planet than Fallout 3, it's understandable. This new scenario takes place in a simulation that puts players right in the middle of the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska. That, of course, explains the snows. It doesn't, on the other hand, explain General Chase's hair. Watch House Party much?

"Operation: Anchorage" for Fallout 3 will be available on January 27 on PC and Xbox 360 for 800 MS Points. And I'm going to buy it.

I popped Fallout 3 back in last night to finish the "kill 300 people" achievement (I went to all of the game's towns and murdered everyone), and now I can hardly contain myself waiting for this DLC.

I just spent entirely too much time googling "Kid n Play hair" at work. Thanks, Nick!

I'm all over this DLC, but I really wish this was the one to raise the level cap. I would be far more inclined to go back to Fallout 3 if I could level up some more.

I wanna know a little more about this DLC before I get it. Is it going to be like one 3/4 hour quest? Or is it going to have its own sidequests and what not..

@Char Aznable - PC Mods ftw! Woo hoo!

Is this the first time Fallout has ever been put in a winter environment? For some reason it makes sense as the environment would be just as harsh, if not more so, than the normal desert wasteland.

Day One for me too. Assuming that there will be cool armor that will magically appear outside of the simulation whene it's over.

@zero

It's supposed to be able to leave the sim when you finish the side quest.

@grim

How'd you not get it before now? I got it just playing the game. There's plenty of humans to kill once the Enclave show up in force.

I don't get why people are begging for a level cap raise yet. It's not enough to have everything you already have in the game? Once you hit level 16-17, all your leveling is inclined towards your SPECIAL points anyway so, it's not like you can suddenly get access to perks you couldn't before.

The only benefits I see in getting the level cap raise in March is the added strength and HP bonuses will be a nice touch, but still unnecessary. By the time I was at the end of the game, I had too many bottlecaps to where I had nothing I could buy to make it worth being that rich. I had to spend all my cash on armor repairs and stimpacks so I had something to spend it on. When you're out on the Wasteland with 130 stimpacks and a full set of Tesla Armor, a laser gatling with 5000 ammo, and the android's plasma rifle... There isn't much that can take you down. Hell, I went through the Deathclaw Sanctuary and didn't even go through more than a dozen stimpacks and never once resorted to the laser gatling or the Fat Boy.

I need to give Fallout some more love. Ever since I reached LVL 20 and stopped getting experience for killing bitches, it lost a bit of it's appeal...

@ Atlas - Hai-ohh!

I actually started over on a good karma character and this time I'm going to try and see if I can use the "Here and Now" perk once I hit level 20 to go up one more. I don't think it'll work but it's worth a try I suppose.

I just want the level cap raised so I can get something out of killing people in the wasteland. I would get excited every time I saw that little "+10 XP" thing in the corner, but once I hit level 20 I was just plowing through people and barely stopping to pick up the loot.

I'm basically in it for the reward factor, not necessarily improving my already beastly character. We'd also be able to pick a few new perks with additional levels, right? You can't go wrong with more perks.

Why not "fuck you Bethesda"? Isn't it ultimately their call if they want to sign a deal for exclusive DLC?

It had better be good DLC, and all the items I get in that simulation better magically come back with me in the "real world" inside the game.

For people playing on PC griping about the level cap: setgs iMaxCharacterLevel [level number] in the console, and then just let er rip. I don't even really consider this to be a cheat, since it's just continuing your progress. I do, on the other hand, consider it to be a cheat when I give myself the MIRV and 10000 mini-nukes. I may have ruined myself for this DLC, since I'm not sure I can go without the sheer, unadulterated joy of spraying 8 mininukes in a random direction for every three steps I take.

Apparently The Outcasts are trying to open a Vault/Bunker full of Old Tech, and this Vault/Bunker can only be opened by going through the Anchorage Simulation....which of course is only accessable to the player..

So Im guessing thats how all the equipment for the scenario will be available in the game

I want the level cap raised for a completely different reason than further character improvement. I became so accustomed to the little "cha-ching" noise that comes with accomplishing a task and gaining experience that it's really noticeable once you hit 20 and it's no longer there.

@dvddesign - Yeah, there really isn't any reason to need to level further to obliterate enemies. And as for the cash situation, imagine what your life would be like if you had 100 repair (as I do). It got to the point where I was actually stashing all my pre-war money to throw on the bed in my house and had tens of thousands of caps.

But using your perks to add to special after level 16? Dude, it's all about Grim Reaper Sprint. Actually, I take back what I said earlier about it just being the sound of gaining XP that I want. I'd also like to check out a few more of those level 20 perks.

What if I just want to kill all of the Outcasts and take the tech for myself then?
