Hooray for great games being ported to the Wii that are actually improved by the transition from regular ol' gamepad to Wii Remote! Here's hoping that all of the people who missed checking out Okami on PlayStation 2 will be enticed enough by the port's control scheme to give the game another look.

Capcom was kind enough to send over some new images of Okami Wii, so take a look at the gallery below if you're interested in seeing what the game looks like in 480p widescreen.

Do any of you own the PS2 version of Okami but still plan on buying the port when it's released in March anyway?

Cool!

I own the PS2 version (bought it becuase I heard so much good stuff about it on here) and I don't think I plan on getting it for the Wii unless it became very cheap or I found it for a great price.

I'll probably end up pick it up because I didn't play the PS2 version but... Where is that paper texture overlay and the bloom from the PS2?

I do plan on buying it. I didn't get a chance to play it on PS2.

Also, Game Videos = Epic Fail.

I own it for PS2... but I only played about two hours of it, too many games were on my agenda at the time and I never went back to play. If it becomes cheap... like 25 bucks or less, then I will prob buy, if not, no can do, too many other great games are comin out this year.

I'll get it. Wonder if it'll end up on the PShit3 as well, consider it was so great on the PSuperior2.

Don't invest in this game, It's quite good and thats the problem, the company clover split up and their will not be a sequel, don't get hooked on it and have your hopes dashed.

Never had a PS2...

They announced the Wii version the day after I got the PS2 one. Bugger.

I held off playing the PS2 version all this time (a superhuman effort, I assure you). So yeah, I'll definitely be picking it up.

... provided they don't fuck up the PAL version that is.

I also never played the PS2 version even though my brother had it and tried to get me to play. Glad I didn't as it seems that this game was just waiting to be unleashed on the Wii

I have the PS2 version, but I don't think I'll be getting the Wii version. This was a really good game, but the first few hours are a beating. I can only take squeaky animal voices walking me through the game for so long...

I was given the PS2 version as a present and have only played about 1 hour of it. If the Wii version is a budget title at 29.99 then I'm getting it.

I own the PS2 version and quit after about 7 hrs. No way in hell I'd spend more than a dollar for that overhyped piece of shit again.

Looks more or less the same. No reason to buy it if you have it, but plenty of people don't, so they should buy it...

Am I the only one getting midna/zelda wolf flashbacks here?? Especially her 'voice'. And the fact you're a wolf. Not so much the paintbrush.

I used to own the PS2 version of Okami, but I recently gifted it to a poor deprived relative expressly because I knew it was coming for the Wii later, so yeah I'll be buying the Wii version when it comes out.

@BlackSunEmpire

Yeah I got that impression as well back when they were first released. Though I may be one of the resident Nintendo Fanboys™ here, Amaterasu > wolf Link.

The Nintendo Wii software lineup - Best of the PS2/GC/Xbox + Nintendo titles all with waggle.

Wow, the innovation is staggering. Capcom might as well port over Code Veronica X, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Nintendo Wii - Innovating by selling people lastgen games, but because people didn't play those old games lastgen, they're like totally NEW games to them!!!

I only got to play a few hours of the PS2 version and the new motion controls might motivate me to actually finish the game. It seems like this kind of a game was made for the wii.

I've played through the PS2 version many times, but haven't collected everything, and I think that it's impossible to collect/encounter every single fish, animal, enemy, etc. Plus, it doesn't look any different to me; it might be a little smoother, and I'm sure the brushwork is better, but it's still the same game. So, I don't need the Wii version. I am quite content with what I have, and that's a big statement considering the game industry makes most of us jaded and not appreciate what we have.

blah blah... complain about the wii ports, but i think it's great for all the people that missed out on okami the first time around (which were a lot of people). i missed out on resident evil 4 the first time around, but the port to the wii was absolutely killer. i expect no less from this highly praised game. btw, gamestop has it listed @ $39.99.

Okami was a damned good game. I actually rented the PS2 version and played it through. I doubt I'll ever play it again (There is something about 35+ hour games that have this effect on me), but I do wish to add it to my collection. That being said, I'll probably get the PS2 version due to it being cheaper.

I think it's great/ sad. Yeah, some new people will get to experience this awesome game, but will they learn anything about Clover? The story here is that Capcom disbanded the creative minds at Clover and is set to bank again on what they produced instead of trying to innovate a new IP.

I abandoned the PS2 long before Okami, so I'll probably pick this up on the Wii if it isn't butchered.

i just got it on PS2 from goozex, still pricey. If the frequent load times disappear (viewtiful joe on Gamecube vs. PS2). I say you should get it. if you have a wii. and want to let other people play a really awesome and long game. yeah this could be awesome.

Meh, I wasn't a huge fan. Combat system was pretty bad; using the paint techniques really interrupted the flow of battle. That combined with the 'fixed arena' nature of combat which made running through the countryside and backtracking in dungeons annoying in a way usually unseen except in JRPGS.

And the story sequences DRAGGED. There were some cool parts, but most of them were way talky and super annoying. The little dude that rides on the wolf was worse than Navi in Orcania of Time.
