Quantcast

Ubisoft sent over some new screens from their upcoming game, Haze. The screens look great but don't really show off anything most of you who've been following the game don't already know. Hopefully the vehicle portions of the game have undergone some work. It was a little broken when I played the game last year

We also have this SciFi interview they did recently with two of the developers from the game, Rob Yescombe and Derek Littlewood. They talk about the story line, how Nectar will work in the game and some behind the scene stuff. A lot of work is going into the storyline and the script is over 1,000 pages now. On top of that, Free Radical has members of the Royal Shakespeare Company doing voice work in the game. Rob mentions that that group usually only works for either lots of money or for a really good script and since they didn't have too much money, it goes to show you that the script is really good. So good, that it made Rob pee his pants a little.

Haze should be out this May and will be free-ish if you live in Canada.

I hope this game turns out great..but with the delays..and reports of playable builds not being up to snuff, it has me concerned.

Still looking forward to it.

I really wish they'd wait longer to announce games. By the time they come out, I'm sick of hearing about them and they're usually disappointing anyway.

The viral videos alone makes me wanna buy the game. I love those chaps at Free Radical.

Hm. Not really sold on this game yet. I'll wait for a demo. And this game has the unfortunate release date that has it sandwiched between the monster releases of GTAIV and MGS4 so it may end up falling under a lot of people's radars.

Wait, isn't Free Radical the company that's doing Star Wars Battlefront 3?

Didn't In The Name Of The King use to have a 1000+ page script? ;)

Looking forward to the story in Haze, the gameplay: not so much.

@Sharpless, Free Radical is working with Lucasarts on something. It just hasn't been announced yet.

While I've been aware of the game for a while but it really hasn't been up there on the list of titles I'm really looking forward to i.e. MGS4, Grand Theft, Force Unleashed, and LBP. I'm hoping they release a demo before the game gets released so I can get my hands on it. Then I might wait for some reviews on it to see if I'm willing to purchase it.

Seeing this video makes me want HAZE more than I did before, which was not that much. Knowing a developer has an awesome sense of humour is a big plus. I'm still a bit wary about the gameplay though. Even with the advent of nectar, it looks just like another FPS.

Not sold yet. Then again I don't have much interest in FPSs (hence my lack of a 360 I suppose).

Damn it that made it sound wrong. I didn't mean it was a 360 game. Where's my edit button to hide the shame~

The dual nature of the two sides is intriguing, but I'll reserve judgment for when the game actually comes out.

But these videos, on the other hand, are cracker jack fantastic!

I've had my eye on this game for a while. I enjoyed what I played at PAX, however buggy it was. And I agree with Angels, Rob is as animated and crazy in real life as he is in this video.

The thing I really hate about this game is that they spoiled the whole fucking story and plot twist before the game was even released.

And $20 says we can beat this "two games in one" total in 6 hours or less.

What worries me, is the fact that they usually don't show that much gameplay in their videos and it all looks a bit cartoonish imo... and to the guy who said it's sandwiched between two juggernauts, you're right... this game will never live up to those monsters (GTA4 and MGS4) However, I believe it will be available in the UK at the end of March... But i dunno, can anyone clarify this?

Nothing makes me wanna buy a nice old nerd ridden RPG like watchin some vid filled with FPS boredom. Lets not fuck around I am an XBOX fan so I do love me a whole lotta shooters, but I do think what made the PS2 great was all the other games. So lets get your asses in gear SONY sell me that BR player, you won that format warso get yer fuckin games out so I will fork out the cash.

In closing this game looks like a bore fest!

Wasn't Free Radical also a band back in the 90s?

I saw Haze in action at Play.com Live yesterday, and it looked absolutely dreadful. Bland environments, slow movement, dull textures - NOTHING like the pre-rendered videos make out. :(

They better soup this up quite a bit before it comes out.
