New scans unleashed for Sonic Un ... lea ... I didn't think this through photo

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. That's how the old saying goes, but where does the shame lie when you've been fooled five hundred times? Sega intends to find out, it seems, as each new Sonic the Hedgehog sequel brings with it hope and promise, only to have such fool's gold crumble into dust before your very eyes.

Sonic Unleashed is no different. I haven't fully enjoyed a Sonic game since the first Sonic Advance, but damn it all if I'm not hoping once again that this time they'll have nailed it. I didn't learn my lesson with Sonic Heroes, I didn't learn my lesson with Secret Rings, and I know that Sonic Unleashed won't be the game to drum cold hard truth into my thick skull.

Nevertheless, here are some Sonic Unleashed scans for other battered wives like myself to glance at and dream of Sega's glory days. At the very least, I think it's a testament to Sega and Sonic's legacy that so many people continue to hold out for a sequel that will revive the hedgehog's critical fortunes. For better or worse, Sega has a loyal fanbase that is begging for their continued love to be justified. It is my hope that those in charge realize they have a very important gift, one not to be squandered.

Wow this image single handedly deflated the hopes of the last 5 folks who still care about sonic and were thinking this game would turn around the franchise.

Good chance that those 5 should are furries, look like they finally get their wishes granted

i'm just wondering when Sega's going to break down and realize that the formula that made the 16-bit Sonic games such revered classics simple does NOT work in 3 dimensions. we don't need more shitty characters, we don't need inter-species love interests, we don't need an effing were-Sonic. we need a fun, FAST, 2-D game that focuses on the strengths of the 16-bit games. even the DS games are bogged down by a tacked-on story that was clearly written for 8 year-olds. well guess what? the gamers who loved Sonic on the Genesis are in their 20's-30's now and when we play a Sonic game we want more of what we fell in love with back then.

Werewolf versus hedgehog? Have you ever seen a hedgehog waddle around on the floor. As much as I respect Sonic's speed, wolves generally pown (forgive me) hedgehogs in my book.

Well, the chances of this being pure, concentrated shite are too much for me to get anywhere near excited about this game when I still have the MegaDrive.

At this point all they're trying to appeal to are the furries and 5-year-olds.

I predict that the super fast speed based portion of the game that is a callback to the original Sonic games will be well recieved and fun. While this waresonic BS will be frustrating and boring with a bad camera. I know this is a safe bet but JESUS CHRIST! Whats with all attempted the Coolifiying of Sonic? First he likes human chicks now he has a dark and mysterious side.
When will sega learn that we enjoy characters like this to have a personality as 2d as the games that spawned them.

Thousands of Sonic x Were-Sonic erotic fanfics hit the web, 10 minutes after these scans were released.

@Artimecion: sonic rush adventure was much better than sonic rush. although i dug sonic rush, i think the music was too much (yeah i love hideki too. .but it was too frantic.. one thing i loved about the 16 bit sonics were the soundtracks had grooves that kind of counteracted the speed.. hidekis soundtrack lacked that) and the stages were overkill. i didnt much like the design of the backgrounds, but the stage mechanics had you dying cheap deaths all day. rush adventure came off as "easier" but only because you werent running 100 mph to only fall into a pit. id rather have easier than cheap... besides.. sonic was never hard until the last boss anyways.

Dear Sega,

Sonic already has a gimmick; he runs very, very fast. He doesn't need another.

I would love to see Destructoid take a bold step, and ban Sonic coverage completely. Sonic stinks, and has always stunk, post Genesis era.

The more attention we pay to this garbage, the more they'll keep making it.

I have high hopes for this one, but I'm still taking it with a huge grain of salt.
