Shock paddles? Seriously, shock paddles?! The last thing I ever thought a game would incorporate as a weapon would be a life saving device. Leave it to Saints Row 2 to really go over the top.
The new trailer shows off all the various locations you will visit while playing Saints Row 2. We also see a bunch of the vehicles and some of the over the top weapons we'll be able to get our hands on in the game. Gas powered mini guns sound fun!
I really liking how over the top the game looks like. Whereas GTA IV looks to be going for a more realistic look, Saints Row 2 looks to keep the arcade style feel of the previous game. THQ also sent over some new screens, which you can check out below. The screens mostly show off the character customization aspect and some crib pimpage.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

game looks like it'll be fun like the fact that as gta gets more serious and realistic SR is going in completely the opposite direction, don't care it its a gta clone, ripoff, imitation. i care if its fun.
As I commented on my piece about this: This game is going to bring out the absolute worst in people. Moreso than GTA. I hope they take some of the heat off rockstar
But I probably will check it out. I did enjoy the first one, and them knowing they cant compete with GTA IV and going all over the top with it instead probably will make it fun, like Mr Lazy said.
Oh, geeze, with GTAIV coming out... this just isn't looking all that worth it. Perhaps I'll get more interested when I'm done with GTAIV, but I expected a ton more from this game considering what it's following.
I now can't decide whether I want this or GTAIV more. GTA is more realistic, better polished, and guaranteed to be awesome. This is more arcadey, and has shock paddles, thus guaranteeing it to be awesome. GTA wins, but only because it's gonna come to PC, and Saint's Row won't.
I played the first one and while it is an okay GTA rip-off...It is still a GTA rip-off. No one has done it as good as Rockstar, and it's lookin' like no one will, or something!
Saints Row 2 looks the same as the first, only with some new weapons and cars...I didn't even FINISH the first one because the missions were so lame like 1/4 through.
They tried too hard to be like San Andreas, I guess.
I dunno', if I had to to pick up either this or GTA IV, I'd buy two copies of GTA IV and give out one to a poor soul buying Saints Row 2.
wouldn't wow anyone on a PS2 or original X-box with that kind of graphics. Wonder what happened? Wasn't the first one better looking than this. or am I mistaken?
@dronkmunk
Pheh, if i happen to recall, When the first Saints Row game came out it was completely ignored by game critics... i wonder if the same will happen again... i guess these games are only controversial if it's made by rockstar =/
@Eschatos
Just remember... though GTAIV may be getting more serious, the anarchy that is in Saints Row is a rip off of what the GTA series has ALWAYS been doing... really, with GTA you can always be sure there will be anarchy...
I think you all are watching the wrong video. find 1 game on the PS2 or XBOX with graphics that good, I'll wait........................................................
see, now stop bitching, It'll be ghat GTA used to be (not saying that what it has become isn't awesome)
It looks like fun so far from what I can see. But all I can think about is how much better GTA IV looks... I just really want to play the latest in GTA!

Game looks like crap BTW.
Yeah, it is.
And in terms of graphics, this looks like an original Xbox game.
Looks pretty...
old...

Still, this game looks fun if only to shock someone with a defibrillator and throw them into an oncoming train.
