New RPG, Trinity Zill O'll Zero, coming to PlayStation 3 photo

Obscure PSX RPG Zill O'll is getting a sequel, and it's coming exclusively to the PS3. Published by Koei, Trinity Zill O'll Zero is sounding interesting if only for the fact that it pledges to be a mature RPG with some pretty dark themes, marking it out as a more engaging experience than the typical "boy hero saves the world and comes of age" story that has been turning JRPGs into drivel for the past ten years.

The original Zill O'll has seen three incarnations -- the PSX original, a PS2 remake and a PSP release that is yet to hit Western shores. It's one of the few Koei games I haven't been able to find and play, making it quite remarkable. It's apparently pretty decent, too. 

We have some low quality images of the current-gen sequel, as leaked from Famitsu magazine. Check 'em out in the gallery and revel in yet another PS3 exclusive. Sony's really lucked out lately.

First its a drought, now this fall its a rainstorm of rpg's, and I will love every minute of it.

Keep em comin,squares been screwin up lately so everyone gets a chance to become the new RPG head office in my house(so far Atlus is first for bringing demon souls over here, Vesperia and white knight cronicles havw an interview with my PS3 as well) I got a lot of offices to fill.

HURP PURP WHAT A DUMB NAME HURR Oh, and like "Final Fantasy 13" is a great name. Maybe easier to pronounce, but no less nonsensical.

Anyway, looks pretty cool. I'd gladly take a departure from the overly cheery stories that plague this genre. I'm a bit sick of "Just believe in yourself, [protagonist], and you can do anything!! ^_^"

Koei making an RPG? Koei hasn't deviated from their dynasty warrior engine ever. So its gonna be dynasty warriors but with bad dialog and leveling up. Count me out.

It's an action-RPG, and its made by Koei's Dynasty Warriors team. The original Zill O'll games were more like an wRPG, being that they weren't linear and had a free-scenario system.

This one should be great.

THANK GOD the PS3 is starting to get RPGs.

Going from probably the best RPG system ever (the PS2) to one of the worst is a pretty big drawback for a lot of former Sony supporters.

Does anyone know what the fuck the name is supposed to mean? I get the Trinity part as it's the third game or whatever and the Zero part because you play as a WWII Japanese fighter pilot. But what the fuck are a Zill and an O'll?

Since this is never going to come over here, can someone PLEASE make a freaking "My Size RPG" for PSN? I still love that turn-based JRPG action, but I'm really not up to playing them for more than 10 or 15 hours anymore. They'd probably turn out better since they could lock down the engine and then recycle it for multiple games that release quicker. And on the positive side for developers it'll be cheaper to produce them and there will be a lot less content that gets created only to be seen by the six people who can slog through a 60 hour game.
