Well, the many of RE5'smysteries are finally peeling away. This new trailer reveals more new info on the game's multiple characters and settings than we've seen in a while, and from the looks of it, absolutely anything goes.
Dirt bikes? Giant electric leech monsters? Hot chicks in evening gowns toting syringes? More than anything else, this trailer shows that RE5 will take "wacky survival horror" content to new levels, topping even Code Vernonica's cross dressing aristocrat and RE4's wisecracking midget.

Meet the rest of the team
I don't think it's supposed to look scary anymore.
But it looks really cool. Can't wait to see if Mikami's departure will have a negative effect on the game though by the look of the trailer, I'm beginning to think this game will rock :)
If Capcom manages to make this better than RE4, I just might be tempted to build a shrine in the game's honor. Well... not exactly, but I guarantee that I'll play the hell out of it.
Looking great right now it seems that whenever you build upon a game concept (mario->mario 3, sonic ->sonic 2, twisted metal->TM2) You most of the time get an amazing game, and since RE4 was already amazing with the reintroduction of the gameplay 5 should be mind boggling good.
Resident Evil hasn't tried to be scary in a very, very long time. With RE4 they threw out any pretense of being a "horror" game. It's an action-shooter franchise now. That's what happens when you try to make the enemies too fast and are required to adjust the controls accordingly.
hpv: it's still horror, they just moved away from suspense and well into panic. It's less about creeping around, wound up for the next shock, and more about throwing you into high tension environments with barely enough resources to survive. "Aliens" versus "Scream". I've yet to play a game that gets the heart pumping like RE4.
@ Zeke: Nobody knows for sure, but the most common and sensible guess would be Sherry Birkin, from RE2. Then again, like Jonathan said, it seems like anything goes, so it could be someone new.
And does it look scary? Not like Dead Space scary, more adrenaline pumping "omg I'm gonna die, so many zombies at once, fuck!" scary. Type of stuff that makes you shake.
I think it looks good. But yeah, I wouldn't call it survival horror - more like Horror Action Shooter or something like that. The person in the beaked costume - they reminds me of the weird costumes that doctors wore during the bubonic plague.
It would be really awesome if that blonde chick was a grown up Ms. Birkin, that or that masked person is either Sherry/Claire 0_o ...or someone else brand new

Looks really good. Hopefully it will have the bonus weapons if you replay it in a harder setting, ala RE4.
