German gaming site GameFront has revealed some new information (via Famitsu) regarding Resident Evil 5.

According to the story, Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi (Onimusha, Resident Evil 1 character designer) reveals that the game is on track to be released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game will feature more interactive environments than previously seen in the series, including a focus on temperature conditions that will somehow affect gameplay. There's also a bit of information regarding the game engine that will be able to realistically display facial expressions as well as some really, really nice hair.

Hmmmm ... zombie hair.

I hope the Wii RE game is released before this as I am in desperate need for some new resident evil. Or, rather, rehashed, somewhat new resident evil.

Thankfully, I can put off buying a PS3 for a while, with this being released on the 360.

it'll probably suck. Ports tend to. Hopefully the WII version will be awesome and build to make most of it.

Is anyone else bored with the Resident Evil series? I'm looking forward to hearing something of a Dead Rising 2.

Am I the only one to notice they didn't mention porting it to Wii? It seems as if they're having some groundbreaking "hair" effects going on, the Wii probably couldn't handle it? I think a lot of next gen stuff is going to suffer that pitfall though (no pun intended) - an amazing game that they can't quite port to Wii due to constraints. I'm already feeling the pain!

RE never really satisfied me: I want more zombie action and less low-on-ammo suspense.
