New releases: Skulls of the Shogun will slay you

1:00 PM on 01.28.2013

Monday has once again arrived, so you know the drill: it's another week of new releases. We're leaving January behind in a somewhat subdued fashion, but there's certain to be something that will catch your eye.

Skulls of the Shogun has caught my eye this week, though lamentably it's only dropping on platforms I have no access to. Maybe it's time for me to upgrade to Windows 8? Nah, probably not. Regardless, it looks like a fun strategy romp for those who like to chuckle while commanding undead minions.

Other than that, there's co-op shenanigans in the form of the medieval theme park scrapfest, Dungeonland; the IGE award-winning Antichamber drops on PC; Omerta: City of Gangsters opens its doors to prospective mobsters; you can shoot people in the face and make things go "boom!" in Heavy Fire: Shattered Spear; the 3DS gets some love thanks to Bloody Vampire and Witch's Cat; play the most hardcore sport of them all in Let's Fish! Hooked On; and more platforms get Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault. This and a whole lot more magically appears this week.

Should Bayonetta 2 have competitive or co-op multiplayer?

Bayonetta is one of my favorite action games of all time. Not only is it legitimately challenging even on hard mode (who would have thought), but it offers up that frame-perfect technical action you'd expect from a studio lik...more

Kamiya's Tweet about Bayonetta Wii U spurs fan campaign

Nintendo's announcement of Bayonetta 2 as a 2nd party Wii U exclusive was a big deal last year. Some fans immediately exploded with rage, demanding that the game also be brought to the PS3 instead. Now it seems those roles ha...more

Bayonetta: Bloody Fate anime coming soon from Gonzo

[Warning: Trailer NSFW secondary to butt.] Bayonetta is quite the divisive character, embraced and/or loathed by feminists, sex perverts and feminist sex perverts alike. While her first game didn't do huge numbers, she'...more
