New releases: Luigi is in charge

7:15 PM on 06.17.2013

With E3 behind us, it's time to get back to playing games that are actually out now. And this week we're being treated to the delightfully unexpected New Super Luigi U. Mario's just a boring old plumber, so it's no surprise that Nintendo are finally realising what we've all known for years: it's better with Luigi.

As well as New Super Luigi U, we're getting the bizarre action physics game, Magrunner; the D&D double pack, Chronicles of Mystara arrives; the first three Jak & Daxter games get squashed into one collection; and quirky meta-RPG Knights of Pen & Paper + 1 drops.

What's floating your boat this week?

The next Age of Empires is for mobile

A free-to-play, touch-based Age of Empires is exactly what none of us wanted but Microsoft is the latest in a long line of companies that can't resist chasing after the lucrative mobile market. This KLab-developed strategy title will hit iOS, Android, and Windows Phone in the summer. It's called Age of Empires: World Domination. Commit that name to memory, and stay away.more

Monument Valley looks a bit like Fez x Echochrome

That soothing music was nice before I go drive to the middle of nowhere to do my taxes. I don't have anything that will play Monument Valley (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), which is out now, but if I did, I would. Thankfully an ...more
