Quantcast

What can I say? The only release this week is Super Paper Mario for the Wii. There are also a few Virtual Console games, but that's it for anything major.

The DS game, Cake Mania, got pushed back to this week. The Ship is re-released onto CDs. And a game called Hot Dog King A Fast Food Empire, is out for the PC as well.

Oh well. I guess I'll finally get Guitar Hero 2 for the 360 ... oh right ... damn

That review was pretty good I would say. I might rent this game just to get the feel of the 2d to 3d shift but Im actually anticipating Mario Galaxy more than this Paper Mario Title. with all the talking it just seemed too much like Mario RPG...

Too much like Mario RPG? You say that like it's a bad thing. And have you played the other Paper Mario games? This looks, to me, like it's not enough like Mario RPG.

Mannnn....sorry but it's rant time.

I went to get Super Paper Mario today and couldn't. I was going to use my Toys R Us giftcard that came as a promotion for buying a Xbox 360 (there's irony for ya) but they looked at me like I was crazy. It was nowhere to be found. So I'm like fuck that, I'm not going home empty-handed. I've been wanting to buy a Virtual Console controller and it's a great time since I just got Star Fox 64 so I decided I'd use part of the giftcard for that. Their stupid registers were having issues and I waited for 15 minutes while they fucked around with that before they said they can't ring it up.

So I'm like fine, I have enough money, I'll get SPM somewhere else. Went to EB Games and the dude says it doesn't come out until tomorrow. I'm like ok....well do you have any Virtual Console controllers. No, they didn't.

Really frustrated by now, I went to Best Buy. They had Virtual Console controllers but I decided I really should use that TRU giftcard for one of the things and what if they still don't have SPM tomorrow? So then I looked for SPM. It was nowhere to be found.

Flustered, I got home, checked IGN, Gamespot, 1UP and Nintendo's website. All say April 9 (today) for the release. WTF?! So I called Wal-Mart. No SPM. Fuck me. So anyway, sitting at home tonight, wishing it was after work tomorrow and praying that TRU will actually have SPM tomorrow.

I will never ever understand how people can be gamers their whole lives, like games so much that they post on a game blog, but don't understand that games are listed by ship date. The games date of April 9th, means it ships out today and you can buy it as soon as stores receive their copies - tomorrow or Wednesday.

Uh, tell the game sites that. All of them say release date. And every time I've gone by that before (yes my whole gamer life) I was able to get it on that day.

i went crazy and bought GHII despite the internet rumors. I even checked the model # and sure enough it was the much-feared 95055 one. But guess what? PERFECT WHAMMY

no problems at all

maybe i just got lucky

Sometimes stores get them early, sometimes they don't. I'd guess with more places breaking release dates in the last few years, game publishers are less inclined to get them out early.

Only huge games have street dates. When a game site lists a release date, they mean the ship date. Sometimes if a game is big enough and doesn't have a street date gamestore employees will drive to airports/distribution centers and get the game, so they will have it on the ship date. But only the Halo 3's/Zelda's/GTA's get that treatment.

Also, ask an employee. Sometimes Best Buy just leaves them in the back until stocking that night, so not to disrupt the display while customers are in the store.

Bahamut_Zero - good to hear. No sadly I live in Pensacola and we take forever to get anything. Should have known better.

DeusPayne - Yeah I probably should've. I didn't feel like it and just went home. Oh well, I should be able to find it today.
