Remember R.U.S.E.? You know, the real-time strategy game that promised to bring a whole new level of scope to the genre? It was announced during the Game Developers Conference, so it's understandable if you missed it due to everything else that was happening at the same time.

I'll admit it, I was very cautious to believe the bold claims being tossed about by Ubisoft back then. But, I will also admit that the claims -- at least the ones about R.U.S.E.'s scope -- were justified. The picture above is nice and all, but you need to see this game in motion to be truly impressed.

Thankfully, there just so happens to be a new gameplay trailer designed specifically to flaunt how ridiculously far you're allowed to zoom in and out. And yes, you assumed correctly: it can be found post-jump.

So the regular view seems to be like a standard viewpoint of the battlefield. But then as you zoom out, it really seems to be a hologram where you see your troops from the safety of your base? That is one cool way to mess with my mind.

Gameplay-wise, seems alright. I have been saying that about RTSs lately but if I probably see more of this game as more about it is leaked, this game may be enough to break this flow of mine.

Wow this looks amazing hopefully the scale of the fights won't make it such a hassle to play.

Between the pretty awesome announcement trailer and this I gotta say I'm pretty interested.

I'm not a fan of RTS games, but still. Looks like a pretty cool interface.

Reminds me a little of Homeworld 2, for some reason. Don't know why.

I dunno, this looks like it'd be a complete pain to control an entire army. They really need to do a video on controls.

We added about a bajillion polygons so you can feel the scale of the polygons, but we weren't satisfied with the polygons, so we added about a zillion more. Now you can really feel the impact of polygons. Polygons so real you can really feel them.

GOD DAMN YOU POLYGONS! HAVEN'T YOU MURDERED ENOUGH WW2 VETERANS?

I was skeptical for a while in that Supreme Commander did the zooming thing, given they have improved upon it to make it easily better. But then they zoomed in on the ships! That was fucking awesome!

The zoom feature with the unit icons is nice. But the actual premise of the game sounds...bleh. I mean R.U.S.E.? How can you base your game on deception? I mean we already have the fog of war in most rts games. What more can they add? A cloaking shield? An optical illusion? Cardboard cutout of tanks? A stereo hidden in a bush? Mind control?

That man has a great epic-reading-voice. He could do adverts.

"We put around a billion blades on the razor, but we decided to add a couple more million just so you could feel the true impact of the massive scale of the shave, and feel every single hair as it hits the ground."

I would buy.

So... it's Supreme Commander but... in WWII?

I'll pass.

Also looks like it would perform like ass.
