New PSOne classics: Final Fantasy Tactics, Tomb Raider 3 photo

Yes, I know that Final Fantasy Tactics was re-released as a PSP game. It's just that as lover of the early disc-based consoles, I like that old school flavor...and that horrible PSP screen stretching. That's right, the original strategy role-playing gateway drug for many is up on the PlayStation Network as a PS3 or PSOne Classic Download. They're asking $9.99 for this ticket back to old Ivalice. It's worth it, you know. Fantastic videogame, this is. Make sure you have 214mb free.

Also available today is the not as cool Tomb Raider III. Sorry, Eidos or whatever your name is. Boobs and guns aren't as cool as FFT's Job System and storybook narration. It looks like they realize this, because Tomb Raider III is only $5.99 (366mb).

[thanks, Scary Womanizing Pig Mask]

This game is my Moby Dick. I have not finished it, ever. But I really woudl feel satisfied if I ever did.

Stupid Whale and your one vs one, Zodiac stacked fight in the middle act...

You'd think they'd price FFT around 5.99 considering they just released the PSP remake.

Oh well, I have the original on disc. So, there's no need for me to spend $10.

TACTICS.
I already own a) a backwards compatible PS3 and b) an original copy of the game, but anyone who doesn't really should give this a try.

A top 10 RPG, no doubt. If you haven't played it yet, you are doing yourself a disservice.

This is the final Fantay Job system at it's peak. Calculator FTW!

FFT - best Final Fantasy, hands down (if you count it against the traditional series), and possibly the most robust story found in a game, ever. I beat it yearly.

Buy it if you don't have it!

I'd hit that.

I mean Id buy the game of course. My fav of the FF series. I kind wish they used some characters from here in Dissidia..

If you had a PSP... why would you play this version? I mean the slowdown sucks but the reworked script and the new FMVs are worth it :(

@Shoop

Many people I know couldn't bare the slowdown and prefer the original, even if there are new characters and jobs.

I have the original but my PS2 is in sad shape and so is my FFT disc. Together it takes a lotta prayin' and patience to get it goin'. So I might pick this up. Wish they'd just put the re-done version on for a higher premium. I'd pay it.

RAGE. If I had known this would have come out on PSN I would have never bought that terrible PSP port. FUCK.

Also FFT is incredible. Go buy it.

EDIT: If your wondering why I don't already have these games, it cause they were stolen along with all my other PSOne classics.....I still cry everytime I think about it. >_>

@dwolfwood If they released XenoGears for download on PSN, I may just go buy a PS3 to play it. That and Oddworld: Abes Oddysee.

Sadly, I think the Tactics Advance series is all we're gonna get in terms of sequels for this game. :-/

Now THERE is a PS1 Square game actually WORTH buying again.

Wait, I don't have an original copy to begin with. EVEN BETTER!!!

I have had this on PSP for a few years now, i dont like how sony is charging you for a game that you may already have, when theres free software out there to convert an .iso image into EBOOT.pbp, and the only thing you have to do after that is hack your firmware, which isint hard if you have the right model.

I think that if sony would have given out digital eboot copies of psx games to customers whom already have the game, then I would have been OK with that.....it's against my beliefs to have to pay for the same game twice.

Right now all i use my PSP for is PSX/retro console emulation, and homebrew

There's so many other PSX games I'd rather get than these two. I never got into FFT (Disgaea series is the only SRPG I can get into), and personally I felt like FF5 did the job system better. Also there's far better games on PSX that deserve to be on the list, though personally I'm hoping they release Final Fantasy Origins AND the PSP remake. I'm an FF1 whore.

They sure know how to squeeze the pockets dry out of me. Well since I homebrewd the PSP version, I guess ill buy this one, so much easier to point and click.

You know what would be awesome? a FFT PvP with your random team. This would be EPIC!

I'm also curious if the shitty original translation was kept.

That's the one thing I loved about the PSP port.

Final Fantasy Tactic is already in a greatest hits edition. I bought it on sale for $10 at Best Buy a while ago along with Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles at the same price. My greatest PSP purchases ever!

HUh no Xbox Live Arcade release, that is kinda sad... at least for me, lol but seriously. XBLA can handle up to 2GB of data and can handle cutscenes (CG and prerendered FMV) so why not on XBLA.
