New PS3 bundles announced for European market photo

Peopel frequently complained about the lack of bundles available a few years back, and it looks like the gaming industry certainly heard their cry. Not only are consoles personalized with color and sometimes even stamped with game art, but bundles have returned with a vengeance. Following the trend are these two recently announced bundles, which will both go on sale during the month of March in Europe.

One is geared directly at movies (which I find a bit odd, but when I think about it I probably watch more movies on my PS3 than I play games on it) and the other at gaming. The movie pack includes a 40B PS3,  Casino Royale, 300 and Spider-Man 3 on Blu-Ray along with a Sixaxis controller. This pack will retail for €399 (roughly $600 US.)

The game pack will contain the 40GB PS3, a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and a Sixaxis controller. It will run the same price as the movie pack. Sony UK confirmed that the latter bundle would also be released in the UK, but that there were no plans to release the movie pack there.

The Wii is the only console not to fall prey to the multi-SKU fad. I wonder if that will change in future due to all this bundle madness, or if they will stick with the standalone console?

I don't see what people would want this as I highly doubt it's the people who complain that $399 is too much for a PS3 as the $600 price point isn't too appealing.

If I were British, I would say something like...

“This is bollocks. Why the bloody hell wouldn’t they include the DualShock 3 in either of these bundles? SCEE can take their Sixaxis and shove it up their collective arse. Fucking cunts.”

DS3 should've been packed into all the PS3 console boxes when they were launched in japan.

why does Europe get cooler shit than us?

Like the hot girls with their lovely British accents...their chocolate is way better than ours....that's about all I can think of. And yes Europe = England

It's absurd to not bundle the consoles with a DualShock 3. Are PS3s at least coming with HD cables now? Having to buy a PS3 and then immediately upgrading the controller and cables adds a significant bit of cost.

Bundles, I'm okay with. Multiple SKUs, not so much. This is, if you notice, the 40 GB version, which doesn't play any PS2 games, which is a goddamn sin.

Sony needs to stop changing the SKUs and bundle options, it's starting to become a really bad plan for them.

I don't see what's so confusing about a PS3 with 40GB and not 60GB, and a packed-in demo of a game that you normally pay for (knowing/not knowing that a demo is normally free), while that game comes out a year later?
