Hey, look at that! Sony managed to fit a white guy, a black guy and an Asian guy into one 1:43 video!
Most of these people in this video were standing in harsh direct sunlight, anyone who's ever played a DS or PSP outside knows that in order to see the screen properly you need to either get in a little bit of shade or angle the system so the sun isn't hitting it directly. Otherwise there's a crap ton of annoying glare, and the screen become darker so it's harder to see.
Of course thats what you need to do to avoid input.

No trailer "situation" is realistic enough until you show a dude sitting on a toilet taking a dump whilst playing their new handheld.
Do they really think these commercials are selling anybody anything? I HATE these commercials. All the do is show beautiful people (that make me angry to look at) playing a device in a way that I am never going to play it. I am not walking around city streets with a dumb look on my face chatting with friends on my PS Vita.
I would be at home (which does not look like a super bright, white house designed by God himself) sitting on my couch with a cold one and some chips watching Game of Thrones. I don't know people who look or act like anyone in any of these commercials. All they do is alienate me and make me NOT want to buy your product. And I have a good feeling others feel the same.
Stop hiring beautiful people to sell your product. How about hiring REAL people for once?? I don't know, maybe so we can actually associate with what is on screen.

What makes them trendy dicks? And the touchpad isn't a problem for me. I hold my psp like that already.

It's a carefully crafted plan hatched by Sony and Pfizer to sell you more blood pressure medication. Taking the PSN experience with you everywhere means there's no escape from online console gamers, a terrifying prospect indeed. Microsoft tried to enable the same plan with XBL and AstraZeneca a few years ago, but found that most of the test subjects died of brain hemorrhaging before being able to provide any substantial data.

Their not holding it that awkwardly and its due to the sunlight more then anything I imagine. You can also see their fingers resting on the touchpad at times so I imagine it can be disabled.
I'm not a huge fan of these commercials but you have to give Sony credit for not forcing them to talk/"act" like Nintendo.

Lot of people think YOU are a dick, and you go right on being a dick. For being such a hatefilled ball of grease, Jim sure is as horrible as he acts like everything else is. Honestly, first time I heard him talk I just thought 'fakest british accent EVER.'
I didn't mind the ad and at least they're showing young adults playing... instead of kids! Still... they're missing the "Mom playing while her kids having piano lessons/soccer" segment and the "30 something guy on the train commute to work" realities.
Playing the Vita while walking in a crowded street AND wearing headphones? Dangerous as well as inconsiderate.
@StairMaster I don't know why that bugs me so, but it just does! Act accordingly! Don't just be mashing buttons to look like you're playing! And if you're going to mash buttons, mash the start button to make it seem like you just paused the damn game! Ugh that first few seconds really urked me just because of that.

Damn, the jim haters are out in full force today...I won't lie, iim gets me fired up frequently, but I keep coming back...his mercenaries stance def won him cool points with me though. He is a polarizing guy, and as much as it pains me to say it, he does his job well

my hands have started hurting just looking at that thing. Probably still better than the one fist grip on the DS cause the other is on the stylus though.
Honestly watching this video now gave me even less hope for Vita. That back touchpad just looks bad. It may be optional for Uncharted, but can you turn it off? And will it always be optional? And yeah, awkward hand placements look like a yes to avoid input. I hope this works out for Sony, it just doesn't seem like it will.
What is the deal with tech companies thinking that I want to let everyone in the world know exactly where I am at all times? If you can't turn off that "Find New Friends" bullshit, I'm not buying one. I have no problem with some one coming up to me at a bar and asking if that's a PSVita and then telling me how they have one, but to be given a map of where other PSVita users are currently located, despite not knowing who they are? That's terrifying.

These guys are just told "act like you're playing/texting/navigating a menu" and the folks at post do the rest. This is also the reason images on the system are clearly visible and without any glare, despite being outside under sunlight.
2) The system they are holding is probably a non-functional shell, so the way they hold it has no real meaning; they are not trying to evade any accidental input from the touchpad, since it doesn't actually take inputs, you know, because it's fake.
3) Jim isn't calling the actors "dicks"; he's calling their characters "dicks", because believe it or not that is what the publicist that made this ad for Sony thinks actual gamers are. So the "dicks" in this case aren't the gamers, or Sony, but the "fake gamers from the ad".

Not too interested in the video, I'm only here to enjoy the Jimhate. Most enjoyable part of my day, really.
You know, having a drink, waiting for your friends to show up, you pull out your game system and play whatever games they come out with. I find myself using my phone to play a few levels of Angry Birds in that situation pretty regularly. Nothing too story intensive, just games that you can pick up and put down in your spare moments.
I love how they think that it's possible to take a portable gaming system anywhere without being stolen, unless muggers will have their own PSV and play with us.
