I have a horrible, guilt-ridden confession to make: I have never played a Prince of Persia title. Considering the type of story it is, I have even less excuse for not having played it, as I definitely enjoy the setting and the story sounds interesting. Truthfully though, after watching this trailer, I may have to go back and discover these games from the very beginning -- I definitely felt inspired by what I saw.
This trailer debuted today at the Leipzig Games Convention, and as long as you don't mind the guy's head in the left corner of the frame, you ought to enjoy it. Since I've revealed my dirty secret about my lack of inexperience with these game, tell me: what's your favorite title from the series, and why? A girl's got to start somewhere.
I think the Sands of Time is easily the best of the first 3.
Warrior Within will forever be known as the one with that terrible metal soundtrack featuring Godsmack. Its also a pain in the ass to play with tons of backtracking and confusing puzzle bits. Oh and a completly useless map to help you out.
And Two Thrones is somewhere in between the first 2 games
I might give this one a try if it has no relation to the previous three. Not cause they were bad, but cause I never finished the second one and didn't start the third.
Forget about the newest interations (Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and the other one whose name I forgot), the best PoP games are the classic first two, for PC. Both are unforgetable masterpieces.
Its important to say that the support character who yuve seen in far cry 2 is also in Prince of Persia, a lot of people have probably already heard this. Its important that the programers set value on Aleka (did I spell her name correctly) only being there if the gamer wants her to, otherwise shes more like a shadow of the prince.

We can see the new graphic style, its also a real highlight, you take a new path and it was well received by the whole community. We have a relatively open world, which can however also change, which we will see in the next scene.
And clearly skill is foregrounded, a mark of the series you almost have to say.
[Then he says that they wont make you fight like 1 against 100 but 1 on 1]
It has a nigh perfect balance between platforming, puzzle solving, and sword fighting.
The storytelling is top notch. You'd start a level, and you're trying to familiarize yourself with the scenery when suddenly the prince starts narrating. I though that was rather clever.
And the levels were done at such a grand scale. There were plenty of moments where I had to stop playing and take in the environments. I'd be standing on a 4-inch wide beam atop a ten-story underground prison, and every time I looked down it'd give me this sincere sense of fear and danger.
And Farah! Every time she left my side to go do something else, I'd worry so much for her safety. A videogame rarely ever does that to me.
I could go on but I won't. It's worth checking out.
I'm hopeful for this new one, but if it fails, I can always go back to Sands of Time.
i'm definitely with you colette... i feel like i should play the older ones now... having never played them though, this trailer looks exactly like a mix of okami and ico. AKA i love it!

That said, this new one looks pretty lush.
