New Pokemon starters confirmed for Black and White photo

This weekend, we were shown by silhouette the images of the three new starters for the upcoming Pokemon Black and White. Much speculation was made over what these characters could be, ranging from pigs to lizard-things to beavers that look like the derp-tastic Bidoof. Derp Derp!

Thankfully, the speculation has been short-lived, as scans of Coro Coro magazine leaked courtesy of Serebii.net. Not far from fan speculation, it looks like we have a fire pig named Pokabu, a water otter called Mijumaru, and a leafy bedroom-eyed lizard-thing known as Tsutaja. According to PokeBeach, "Tsuta" is the word for "ivy", "Bu" is the sound a pig makes, "Mijuku" is "immature" and "maru" is "ball". Other news includes the name of the region, now Isshu, and the fact that the protagonists are a little older than they have been in the past.

So which ones do you like? Personally, I'm a fan of the piggie and the sea otter/bear/ice cream thing, who I suspect could evolve into some sort of polar bear, but I'm just not feeling the lizard. I have no idea what it is supposed to be. Ultimately, I'm going to waylay judgement on this trio until I see their evolutions, as while certain starters, like Totodile and Piplup, were fantastic, their evolutions felt comparably weak compared to their charming initial state. I'm hoping that by stage three we'll see some bad ass monsters, as those are the ones players spend time with anyway.
