Though while having limited space, I assume the mandatory installs will at least go much faster. My PC's SSD makes everything amazingly fast.

Actually, I am looking to buy a Blu-ray player. Should I wait for that now? I absolutely want a PS3, though only own a shitty 360. Hate it. All the good games are exclusive to PS3 (Journey, Ni No Kuni, Demon Souls, Last Guardian & Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Remake, MGS4, FFX HD (I WANT THAT!!!) or rather all FF games in the store, etc.pp.). The only good thing we have is Lost Odyssey. The PSN is free, whereas I need to friggin pay for online services (scam!!)

TGS then? Or are they just gonna do a Sony specific event in September? Interesting either way. Still think the 16GB model is a mistake. Most new games these days don't require major installs, but the system is as useless at the 4GB 360 is in the long run. Unless this thing is undercutting the 360 by putting it at the $150 price point, I see it failing pretty miserably in the marketplace.
A PS3 with 64GB flash? Now that could work. And since that much flash memory is cheaper than any 2.5" hard drive on the market right now, you'd still be saving money. And you could justify a $200 price point if you wanted to do it.

Unless you want a $600+ PS4, I'd recommend trying to be more content with traditional spinning storage solutions. SATA 6G and 7200RPM says hello.

It's unlikely to have any impact. The bottleneck for the PS3 isn't the SATA 3G 5400RPM drive, it's the 2x BD drive that's slower than the 360's DVD drive. Go check out some of the tests with using 2.5" SSDs on the PS3. It doesn't do much.

People abused the system, so they got rid of it. If people stopped trading around their extra installs and breaking the TOS/EULA it wouldn't be a problem. Personally, I just wish they'd switch over to the way Steam does DRM. Much better IMO.
